Suggest a 4 channel mixer?

GREETINGS! For the past couple of months I’ve been routing my vinyl setup and my digital setup through my vestax pmc-05 (one on phono, the other on line obv..) This has allowed me the convenience of combining the two setups on one external source, but I have two issues.
#1: no third deck capability (obviously[unless you’re going to simply count cueing the track]).
#2: the pmc-05 lacks mid range knobs.

SO, I’m looking at picking up a 4 channel mixer to fix these issues. My spending range is <$500. I don’t need anything fancy, just a straight up mixer. One very big issue is fitting the mixer into my coffin. I’m not sure if I can actually fit a 4 channel mixer in there, as my pmc is already pretty snug in the middle (I’ll probably have to get a new transportation system).

I’ve looked at and considered both the Behringer djx750 and ddm4000. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I know this is probably an unnecessarily long post but I’m in a wordy mood.

Peace n’ beats,
Hypernia

Common wisdom is don’t touch the 750 and the 4000 is okay. With a budget like that though, look into used gear - there are quite a few 4 channel mixer threads with suggestions in your price range floating about this forum if you search for them.

Will do. Search, that is.

you wont find many good 4 channel mixers around that price range but the only thing good around your price range would be the ddm4000

DDM4K is you’re only real option I’m afraid.

I’m selling my pioneer djm 3000. Its as straight forward as you can get with EFX.

If buying 2nd hand is an option, you could look for a Denon DN-X 1100. I think it costs 650 new, but if you find a store that is willing to give you a better deal, you could probably get a new one very close to your original budget.

ddm4000 all way up for its versatility…

You can simulate any mixer EQ frequency ranges with a custom configuration.

This is THE ideal mixer for home usage period

Just buy it… And I’ve heard that it’s way better then DJX700… If you search you will find some reviews.

I had a Vestax PMC 280 for about a year before I got my S4 and abandoned vinyl all together.

It’s right in your price range, decent 4 channel mixer with on-board effects (although to be honest, most of the effects sound like crap).

Unfortunately most 4 channel mixers suck unless your willing to spend an arm and a leg.

I’d consider the offer, but I can’t use a mixer with that long shape. It won’t accommodate to my setup whatsoever. I’ll likely be getting the ddm4000 or the pmc 280. I really like the feel of my pmc, but the channels are burning out and the whole lacking a third channel thing. I don’t need effects whatsoever because I don’t really enjoy using them. The only effects I ever use is the occasional beatmash and reverb (for transitioning into off keys and bpms).

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I appreciate. I’ll be buying one of these two within the coming month when I get my next paycheck(s).

I thought there was a pretty decent 3 channel mixer with a slimmer footprint. Don’t remember the make/model off hand. I’ll search it out when I get a moment.

Ecler Nuo 3.0 is 3 Channel, within the price range and a very solid mixer.

That’s the one I was thinking of. Thx.

Awesome; also a very nice option. I’ll likely jump on the Ecler actually.

Vestax 004xl is a decent 12" form factor mixer.

Update

Ended up picking up a pmc-280; I absolutely love it. Fits perfectly inside my coffin, sounds great, the effects are easy to use and sound pretty good, crossfader and upfaders are amazing, and it’s overall a pretty sexy looking mixer. Vestax definitely knows how to make a mixer. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I appreciate the assistance.

For that, you can buy a second hand Allen & Heath Xone 62… That’s what I would get if I was in the market…

Glad you went with my suggestion. Word of advice, get a little led light or something over the mixer because those black cue selection buttons are impossible to see in a dark room. (Why didn’t Vestax make them light up with led’s or something?) More than once I thought I was cueing in the wrong channel and mixed in something way off tempo because of it

Thanks for the suggestion. Wouldn’t have even considered the 280 if nobody had brought it up. And yeah, along with the cue selection buttons I also noticed the switches could be similarly problematic in a dark room. I’ll be taking my 280 out to it’s first gig on Friday so that will be its first test. Once again, thanks for the suggestion.
