I want to build a new computer for my setup. I need a desktop, not laptop, and there arn’t many sujjestions out there. I definatly need it to work with Midifighter 3D, F1, S8. And I want it ready for Ableton, if I ever feel the urge
Presently I have an Asus motherboard with an i3 and 4g ram and it seems when I plug the 3D and use a complex mapping I get skipping sounds… I’m pretty sure it’s a conflict of some sort. The LOAD meter on Traktor is way below 50%…
Stewe: This whole story started when I got the Twister a few weeks ago. I worked on the problem with a tech from DTT. I even got so obessed as to re install everything. Windows and all. I keep this computer soley for Traktor so nothing else on it. The tech decided we needed to try a different unit so I asked him if instead of sending the Twister he could send the 3D… I was thinking it might have a simpler ‘internal workings’ AND I was also thinkng it would serve my needs more. My last conversation with the tech was him saying I must have a hardware conflict and he was ready to refund me. BUT that is not what I want. I want to get to the bottom of this. Plus I need another computer at work so this is the right time for me to switch.
So now my need is to know if anyone has experience with a good Desktop solution that works with my hardware.
Oh, but if you have ideas about why I’m having problems… I’m still willing to try and figure it out…
I think its more conflict than hardware. It wouldn’t hurt to replace the i3 with an i5 and increase your ram to 8GB (I’d recommend 8 as default anyways). Before building a whole new rig, look up your MB model, see what slot it is, and look to replace the processor and add RAM, but I think you are having more tech issues than power issues.
I’ve had a generic Dell PC and one i built myself with an AMD Athlon X4 and Asrock motherboard and neither had any problems supporting all of my hardware.
I’m thinking the same. It looks more like some kind of freak coinicidental conflict… And if that fonflict has anything to do with the motherboard adding mem and new CPU won’t do a thing.
That is why I was hoping someone would be able tell what he has that works in the desktop category.
Do you keep your BIOS version up to date? This is first step in optimizing your PC for DJing.
I also have i3 dual core with 4GB RAM in my Windows laptop and it’s also struggling to properly run two decks in Traktor… I can use S2 with default mapping with no real problem but, as you already said it, any complex mapping chokes the CPU and I don’t even have the Key locked.
i5 dual core with 8GB runs things more smoothly but I wouldn’t guarantee no spikes and pops at all while using Keylock and complex setup.
I’d only make sure that the processor is some i5 quad core with 8GB DDR3 2400Mhz and you’re all set.
It was an asrock fm2a88m extreme6+ but man I think 99% of the setups do not have any problems so I think you should not focus too much on this specific motherboard (great motherboard though)
Thank you to both of you. I’ll go all out with an i7 8gb ddr3 and lots of mhz. If that dosn’t work I’ll sell it all get two turn tables with a good Pioneer Mixer and learn the old way of Djing.
PS I can’t believe DJTechTools doesn’t know what a DJ plays ???
Well I took a while but I just finished up a computer build. It’s an MSI Z97 with an i7 CPU. 4 mhz .. Usb 3 all the trimings… AND ABSOLUTLY NO CHANGE IN MY PROBLEM !
I am lost here…
EVEN when I un plug the S8 and use the motherboard sound card.. It still skips like hell when I press the shit button on the Midifighter with Beaubryte All-in-one mapping !
Oh yeah wanted to add… I did a mapping to test things.. It seems the problem is with Traktor OUT mappings. As soon as you add too many everything goes bonkers…
Yes fresh new everything… lolll… The only thing that remaines the same is the installation disk. It’s a windows Ultimat !
… Maybe I should try windows 8 or 10 ?? I don’t like the new interface on those windows… But it might be worth a try.
