I would like to ask for help for this setup, syncing a Mac and a Windows XP-based PC via Ethernet cable.
I’ve tried via MIDI but the results are beyond expectations, swaying a lot of time and staying out, most of the time.
I’ve read in several places that the network system is more reliable and stable, with much better results at the level of traktor sync.
I’m looking for a good tutorial or a help in your direction.
Thanks in advance for your help
As a Windows user and at the risk of getting a chorus of 'this again’s, the problem is most probably your PC. The MIDI clock implementation leaves a lot to be desired.
MIDI clock in general is pretty rubbish to be honest. Couple of options:
slave to a hardware source such as a mixer with MIDI clock
abandon MIDI clock, dial in the same bpm on both computers and pitch bend into time
to synchronize the hand, so I know how.
ethernet connection was asking, as have read that it was much more stable.
from what I read Richie Hawtin sync via ethernet and he knows what he does, then I think the best option.
asked for help in a way to do it.
It shouldn’t. Assuming you don’t change tempos you should be able to just dial in the same BPM, nudge the beats together and then not even need a midi clock.
