Sync Windows (Ableton) to Mac (Traktor)

Sync Windows (Ableton) to Mac (Traktor)

Has anyone got this accomplished accurately?

I tired doing this with a friend for a 2 man show. Spent literally hours and 4 days trying to get this done.

What happen was the tempo on ableton wouldn’t stay on time , it only stayed around the the tempo and you can see it changing frantically.

Tried everything you can think of. Settings plugs , etc etc.

A weird situation though is that Ableton 7.03 Specifically was able to sync up properly , where as , 7.0.18 and the lastest version of 8 was off time?

There is no explanation other than… Its just a Mac to windows lag issue , OR the launchpad automap server in particular is the culprit. Wouldn’t disabling the control or closing the automap server software solve that issue though? (which we tried.)

Here is what we were using.

Macbook , don’t know which one…
Dell Laptop XPS1647 core I5

Native Instruments Audio 8 (MAC) interface sending midi clock to Saffire Usb 6 (Windows)

Traktor + 2 Traktor X1’s (On Mac)

Windows launchpad on windows.

Is there anything I could missing here that I could of done?

The answer you seek is in the FAQ young padawan.

syncing a mac and a pc? the universe will implode!

yeah but ironically it didn’t when using ableton 7.0.3 it sync’d up like it should… I guess you guys didn’t read that part…

long story, short:

correct me if i am wrong but you wont be able to sync them up flawlessy, although some traktor/ableton versions work more stable than others

its the problem in the midi standard itself, causing these bpm fluctuations.

if you had traktor 3 (not PRO) you could have traktor 3 send osc tempo data and a m4l device inside ableton adjust the tempo based on this osc data or vice versa

its definetly not a mac to win issue

i did, let me have my fun :stuck_out_tongue:
