Syncing Half time or double time?

Syncing Half time or double time?

Is it possible using sync, to sync to tracks at half or double time in TP2?

For example 65bpm synced to 130bpm.

80bpm to 160bpm

72bpm to 144bpm

etc etc.

If not, does anyone have any tips on how to go about this, besides riding the pitch fader. (I am capable of this, but I’m looking for a faster route.)

I think the easiest way would be to use the x2 and /2 buttons in the advanced-panel of a deck to temporarily double or half the beatgrid. So your song stays at say 65bpm but uses a 130bpm grid so u can sync it to a 130bpm track.

I’ve tried that, it deff does not work as well as i would like it to, do you suggest maybe presetting my bpms in another program for this?

You can always manually set the 80 bpm as 160 bpm in the browser.

I love controllers, they help so much for creativity but please guys :
LEARN TO BEATMATCH WITH YOUR GOD DAMN EARS.

As talented as you may be, you are screwed by bpm. I mean, omg !

I learned to beatmatch, and now all i do is check if Traktor bpm is correct with my ears, because Traktor suck with some tracks.
Don’t buy 232495 MF Pro and 212 VCI 100 and act like a “DJ” if you can’t even beatmatch, or at least check if its ok with your ears.

tap the tune out. then hit the times or divide x2 fucntion. Works fine for me.

Double/half the tempo of the track you’re bringing in to match track playing.

Sync.

Mix.

Bring out original track.

Revert tempo of new track to what it was originally. (make sure this deck is not set to sync to another deck/the master clock while doing this)

Next track!

Yay, you can beat match! Do you want a fucking gold medal? If you would have read the post correctly, you would have noticed that I already said I can beat match. So can a shit ton of other people on this forum, I was just looking for a quicker right.

But to be real honest, it’s people like you that ruin this forum at times.
Not one part of your response was helpful to me in anyway shape or form, and this forum is meant to helpful. Next time you have something negative to say in someones post, just save it because you won’t benefit anyone by posting it, not even yourself. asshole.

Actually I wouldn’t mind one

I wouldn’t mind one ither, haha.

When trying to beat match half time/double time I’ve found that matching the snare hits works better than trying to match kicks.

Matching snares alllllways works better than matching kicks :stuck_out_tongue:

you guys are greedy. Silver’s fine with me.

Did you check if the original grid was set right by Traktor. Sometimes Traktor gets the grid/the bpm wrong so it won’t work as well as it should.
It works fine for me but I regridded most of my tracks.

The x2 /2 (which can be assigned to a controller) and the gold medal option are your only realistic choices

From now on whenever there is a beatmatching vs sync bitching thread I say we all just proudly flaunt our gold medals.

In the end, what do you want ? Beatmatch 2 tracks with one having half/double bpm of the others. And you wanna do it quick so you will have time to act like a star in the booth. I’m giving you the most reliable, and fast method I know, ears.
But it looks like you are too lazy to get a nice and reliable result, so you would like me and everyone here give you a “1 button solution” ?

You are raging at me when i’m trying to help you, and just because of this, i hope that any method you will receive from others here will ONCE totally FAIL (most probably cause traktor will screw up finding the kick), if possible in front of thousands of people.

If this “i’m a beatmatch pro but i like digital methods trolololol” moment get caught on camera, i would like to have it. Thanks.

PS : for the medal do you ship to Europe ?

That does work, just need to make sure the beatmarker is placed on the first beat of the bar and not the second otherwise its not going to work.

@dope - please curve the behavior, its really not welcome here.

Sure you can suggest for the OP to use his ears but you don’t need to make an ass out of yourself in the process.

Exactly. Thanks for making that clear.
