Technic 1200's timecode flutter (bpm fluxuation)

Technic 1200’s timecode flutter (bpm fluxuation)

So, I used to own a used pair of Technic 1200 MKII’s, which were decent, but not perfect. Then, some jackass broke in to my buddies house and stole them. Due to financial constraints (and my nice discount at the music store I work at), I am buying a set of Stanton T.62’s.

Here’s the question, how much do a good set of Technics vary in BPM when you are playing? I’m trying to compare it to the Stantons, which at 128 bpm, might go .15 bmp in either direction. Not a huge deal, but I’m just curious how tight a good set of Technics are.

I believe 1200s have a wow and flutter of .01%

“Very low wow and flutter (0.01%), which means that the platter will stay within 1/100 of 1% of the desired speed.”

From wikipedia.

that spec might be when the quarts lock is on… it fluxuates but im not sure how much never paid that much attention.

mine flutter a bit, usually by 0.01 without the quartz lock. Sometimes its a bit more, say 0.05.

One deck is .02 and one is .03.

So very little you will never notice it.

Thanks for the input people, I appreciate it. I’m gonna do a little more testing on the T.62’s at work before I buy them. I know its going to be a big down-grade from my old technics but I think with some butter rugs they’ll work until I get some more cash saved up.
