So I popped on over to Ableton’s youtube channel for a squiz at some videos -
I gotta say I’m quite impressed.
At first I was wondering why they didn’t dedicate a third deck for ableton, but they do show two decks + ableton clips in use, and they do it pretty well.
Just makes me want to waste all my cash on gear and software. Gotta love expensive hobbies
I hope that someone will make a tool like Bridge for Traktor. I Really like Traktor because i dont have money for technics and a decent mixer . So i love MIDI. And i want to learn Ableton…
it only syncs to ableton… that is ridiculous… that is a hectic looking set up and i’d want sync on all decks… and i’m one of the best vinyl beatmatchers in the game yo…
Still no interest in going back to serato… I just aint got the room for that set up
In fairness if I was into ableton though i’d be pretty excited
All good, though I feel an integrated sample/loop player as per the S4 is a more elegant solution that will appeal more to your average DJ, rather than owning SSL and Ableton and running them on the same machine.
Just wish NI would get the sample decks into TPro asap.
To me it seems like, whats the point? If you just add scratch abilities to ableton and some simple standard dj functions within that program. Whats the point of dishing out so much money for both software? It doesn’t really seem that fluent to me to use in a DJ set.
Don’t get me wrong I think the idea is great but they never nailed it on the head yet.
I agree, but I’ve heard so much opinion about how “terrible” the integration was from the beta days. This is probably why I’m impressed by it - It doesn’t look anywhere near as terrible as what I expected.
I’ll assume they will continue to release future upgrades too and improve the functionality.
I personally think we’d all be raving about it if this were a release for Traktor that had Maschine support.
No but if it was a release for Traktor that had Ableton Live support I might be more interested. I’m certainly not interested in dropping $600 on Maschine when I barely know what it does. I’ve already got Ableton and I like the way it works. Since NI owns Maschine too it makes sense for them to integrate support (I’m not really sure why it doesn’t exist), but it’s not going to change my workflow one way or another, and I suspect I’m not the only one.
Think it will be great for scratch DJ’s wanting to record their sets, and it works well for syncing loops to a Serato deck but overall it doesnt grab me.
