I Recently filled in an application for some intern production work at the bbc, on the application i had to fill in a section about an idea for a TV show. so as all have been doing this week is reading the forums and building sections of my controller. i had the idea for a TV show potentially called The Controllerist, the shows basic aim would be to find the UK’s best young talent and have them build controllers and battle each other to win over a crowd using their controllers to domanate the stage, also testing there production and performance technique to produce original and mash up tracks live on stage.
but after alot of thought I’m not so sure it was a good idea to put this on the application but whats done is done, and i need some reassurance. let me know what you guys think, if you think it is a good idea let me know if you think of anything that could make it better if i do get an interview I’d like to go in the some more idea’s
cheers
Pitch it like you just described it, just with a little bit better style.
Also, add in that it could tap into the DJ Hero market, and entice tons of kids who are totally enamoured with DJing in general. It actually sounds like an awesome late night program.
be an excuse to ean on uk tv oh! and you could get uk techtoolers on as ‘guest judges/experts’ like in scrapheap - and they could drop a 10 min routine. not discriminating against the non uk members, but my tv licence money only goes so far
it is 170 odd pound a year just for the privileged bbc to throw stuff like snog marry avoid out at a bewildered public, i want to emotionally hurt whoever pitched that knightmare my girlfriend loves it and i don’t know why.
“i look like a slag and i love it”
make over
“oh my god!! i look so much better actually wearing more clothing than makeup”
so you’re going to keep with this look?
"yes
end of show catch up a few weeks later
“yeah, it wasn’t me, i’m a slapper at heart”
Saw it for the first time a few Saturdays ago. I was pretty drunk but that was the over riding feeling I got from the show.
Hardest part about watching it is when your girlfriend asks you what you think of the girls. Obviously as men we all want to fuck girls who look like whores.
i found (by accident) it pays to remember what ones you say what about, if there’s a repeat you can get in a lot of trouble if you contradict yourself later.
or it might just be i openly said ‘i’d wreck that’ in front of the wife…
I remember the words “I’d bum her silly” coming out of my mouth, during the early slaggy part of the show. Got in a bit of trouble for that.
I blame the rum.
i also to get a mild sort of torrettes when i watch this show i think thats the point of it girls can watch and be bitchy and blokes can watch and be pervy
…and suddenly this thread went in a completely different direction!
If you got the Controllerist show, I would love you forever and find a way to watch it here in Canada
yeah your right it really is! Back to the matter in hand! I had some ideas today thinking about the modding side of the show..giving certain items or a choice of items like kids toys, furniture (once saw Jurassic 5 live and they had American school desks with beat pads built in that’s what gave me this idea) recycle old broken analogue mixers, and a original build of course.
i think generally a show on british tv about DJing in general would be pretty decent.. like an x factor but for controllerism and turntablism. that would properly help people accept controllerists if they saw that they could perform alongside turntablists…
I was thinking more along the lines for the apprentice and scrapheap challenge for the format rarther than x - factor it sickens me how the producers format that show taking the piss out of clearly mentally handicapped individuals, for cheap laughs, then following it with some heartwarming story about someone from a humble background who has bags of talent. I like the idea of including turntable ism especially raising more interest in the time coded vinyl but there are allot of controllerist who don’t use vinyl so i think you would have to start making different categories to make it fare. Vinyl dj is still considered much cooler than laptop dj in the eyes of the general public i think. but i might be wrong.
On a ranting note DOWN WITH ITV and all its below par quality entertainment.
