The Pacemaker?

The Pacemaker?

Hey Ean/DJ Techtools!

Have you guys seen this thing? I was bumping around on some forums and saw an ad for this thing, looks kinda weird, if it does what it does then holy shit!

Just thought I would share… (I hope I stumbled upon a device of future blog entry Ean …if not oh well)

yep its certainly a cool piece of kit. Best use i can think for it is live mixing on long road trips.

Im thinking like, show up at some house party, plug in, people look at you like “wtf is in this guys hand?”, 5 min later… rock the house

If someone offered me one i wouldn’t say no thats for sure. A bit pricey here about $1200 NZD i think. You’r right it would be sweet at parties etc bit of a learning curve with it though by the looks of it and a few restrictions such as only being able to adjust one eq at a time etc but still, awesome ;p

yeah theres been artiles about the pacemakers do a search on the blog

ahh, oh well, i thought i was onto something, guess not

gotta be quick to surprise us mate lol peace :stuck_out_tongue:

now…can anyone tell me what kind of headphones that purple freak is wearing??..Cus thats whats really interesting

yeah…it’s all over youtube also.

“pacemaker is the modern dj’s holy grail”

psh. they spelled ableton wrong.

haha i wanna see ean bust one out in a club and just go crazy with it

perfect candidate for getting smart mixing integrated

Exactly!

Sorry to revive this topic from the grave, but is this thing actually useful, or just a gimmicky toy?

I wonder the same thing, i don’t see how it can offer sufficient control over 2 channels simultaneously.

I got one for Christmas a couple of years ago and used it in a couple of sets in my weekly gig to great results. It really is a nifty bit of kit with separate line-out and monitor outputs which also can be connected up to your normal mixer so it acts like two individual decks on different channels. The built in effects are excellent (Roll, Flanger and Delay being favourites) and for the SYNC button style DJ’s , the V2 firmware gives pretty good beatmatching.

The downsides are the Pacemaker Editor (the program on your computer for transferring and editing tracks), and Toniums product support and user community which is just shocking.

That aside, I use mine for knocking out mixes on flights, long coach trips, in bed and often take it along to parties where I can just plug it in and have a quick mix!
