Throughly Digusted With "DJ’s (Warning Rant Inside)

Last night I went to an old hang out I hadnt been there in at least 5 years. After chilling upstairs at the venue I decide to hangout by the DJ booth hoping to see some turntable action or at least a controller all I saw was a laptop and a iphone I wanted to throw up in my mouth I was so dissapointed. I felt so ashamed to be called a DJ like that guy was being called a DJ. It look like he was using Itunes or something to play music with. Needlesss to say I wont be going back to that place for another 5 years hopefully by then the venue will get a proper DJ.

Rant: Off.

Yeah but that’s the way it is brother, welcome to the future

Congratulations! You just found an opportunity to market yourself as the new resident at this place!

+1. Roll up with a demo and take that clown’s spot:slight_smile:

So was the music good and well mixed? Were people dancing?
You said “I decide to hangout by the DJ booth hoping to see some turntable action or at least a controller” which insinuates everything sounded good to you and you went over to the booth anticipating to see some action but you were not happy with the hardware and software you found.

I Just dont get this mentality. If the music selection was good and it was well mixed and there were people dancing and having a good time, What does it matter what it was mixed on? If you mix on 2 TT and I mix virtually with an IPad and we are equally as good sounding, are you somehow superior to me because of the medium you mixed on?

Just curious as to your thoughts and mindset…

Though I agree with William Gibson I can imagine this would anger you, I hate it myself too, but if it pleases the crowd what is wrong with it? I know it’s disgusting but in the end it is all about pleasing the crowd, if the dj does that by using iTunes that should not be a problem, it is a difficult situation though.

Well like I said I hadnt been to that venue in a while the last time I was there the dj booth had turntables. The misic wasnt mixed it was played in sync with the MC. The music selection was ok I had every song he played so if I played the same songs I’d expect to get the same reaction from the crowd. Call me old fashioned but I like my music played on a TT or a controller. If it pleases the crowd so be it even if the music was played on a Etch A Sketch so be it I know how I like to play my music.

The only people who care about the gear being used to play the music are other DJ’s

So true lol.

rofl, how can you say you can that could be in the same league as this?

Wow that kinda sucked.

LOL
