tips for becoming a promoter/some questions/article idea?
i may be moving back to Austin, TX and as far as i know there isnt a whole lot going on there for my specific ‘scene.’ Houston has a great group of promoters (Dancemofodance–GRRRL Parts djs) that bring in big name dj’s just about every week.
Austin is a huge college town (University of Texas is the 7th largest…i think lol) so with the right promotion, any night there would be a huge success. i have connections/contacts in Austin (i lived there for a few years and began djing there =D), so getting people there shouldnt be a problem.
are there any tips/things i should know before even attempting this? usual cost of artists? riders? how do you go about getting a venue to OK this?
any promoters here cough Miyuru cough that could point me in the right direction
this might make a great article for DJTT! promoting is pretty relevant to djs; most promoters DJ a bit, right? hmmm…maybe i could interview some promoters..?
