You’re just a record player player

this is pretty hilarious though

have any of you young-uns ever heard the abomination that was Rollins Band?

talk about not having a leg to stand on…

Forget about the the EDM rip, his crack at rock bands playing power chords is a laugh if you go listen to any old Black Flag. Durrr what were those chords you guys repeated for 3 minutes at a time?

Funny and kind of old.

@rotebass: 3 minutes? the average track length on The First Four Years was about 2 minutes or less, some didn’t even hit a minute.

I was wondering where that was sampled from, as I have several songs with bits of that speech in them.

Love that remix. Is that track available?

Henry Rollins is such a self-aggrandizing douche, I’m almost not surprised that in this clip (which is over a decade old, to be fair) he seems to have no idea whatsoever that he’s saying the exact same shit people said about punk rock (not to mention every other form of music that was popular with young people at one time). But I do love his radio show on KCRW; he’s got encyclopedic knowledge of a lot of really diverse styles of music. (Though apparently not EDM, heh).

HAHAHAHA! This is the best counter I have ever heard.

haha i think i heard kill the noise playing that live. also for the hardstyle people:

I liked it funny and true ( my opinion )

The spoken word rants with a bass and drummer were the highlights for me. However the Cop Killer stuff with Ice-T was genius, more so than the Anthrax Public Enemy or Aerosmith Run DMC in artistic expression. I can’t discredit him, this is a motivated man with little swag making a substantial influence in thinking for many. Books, TV, music most people don’t have the motivation nor drive to achieve what Mr. Rollins has done from the tail end of a fragmented punk scene.

This is pretty funny. I am actually surprised that he knows so much about edm… usually when people make fun of it they don’t seem to know much, but he actually must have done some research.

That statement tells me you don’t know much about Black Flag. Ginn is an incredible guitarist and Rollins is a very smart man.

This. He always has an interesting selection of music on his radio show. He seems to actually be a pretty good record player player.

I’m playing Angerfist’s version at the weekend

Yeah. stop throwing rocks in your glass Grey Goose bottle. Black Flag was a hell of a live band. A great DJ will never compare to a great LIVE band. I don’t care how cool you look pressing buttons.

Sorry that I don’t rank bands like Black Flag on par with guys like Govan or Waggoner, it has nothing to do with being a DJ or not.

Call me what you will but punk rock guitarists and “incredible” do not go together, I can’t find any Black Flag videos that showcase anything that I could call technically challenging. Perhaps I’m missing something, but if your going to call out a band for relying on power chords, you better make sure that you don’t fall under the same umbrella.
