Hey guys, I know I’ve seen this before but I can’t find it anymore. I’m working on a mapping for Traktor 2 and my APC40 and I want to turn on the freeze button for the reverb and delay when the dry/wet-knob hits 100%. Does anybody know how this works? Best
I could be wrong, but I think this is only possible if you mod the firmware to make the knob send a separate midi note when it’s turned fully to the right. Bomes Midi Translater could perhaps emulate this?
maybe possible if you set a modifier to kick in when you hit 100% and map the knob as a button for the freeze that kicks in when that mod state is triggered.
yea i thought about that too. but i don’t get how to map it. don’t i have same problem with modifiers too? i mean, i can’t really set a value of a modifier corresponding to a specific value of a knob.
you can definitely set a modifier to kick in at various points along the turning radius of a knob. I’ve seen it done, but I’d have to play around with it when i get home to see exactly how it works. are you using a knob or an encoder for this?
There’s no need for modifier in that case. Setting button to engage when knob is at 100% should do the trick. This idea comes from DJTT VCI-100 custom mapping where flanger-pulse kicks in on fader FX.
are you sure it’s not the other way around? when knob is at 0% the button/effect/whatever is off and above on. then you can inverse it so at 0% it’s on and above off. but this does not solve the problem to be off from 0%-99% and on at 100%.
I’m sure. Also I’m sure this regards to tricky mappings where you can’t determine one exact way to do this because I have tried to re-map same settings to other controllers then mine and it didn’t worked. I think this somehow got to do with different fader resolutions.
The VCI, if I remember right, had a firmware change that enabled fader Fx with another midi “note” to map at the end of the fader movement.
You can have a similar action using just Traktor mapping, but it isn’t as reliable as the VCI’s. You have to move the knob or fader smoothly and not too fast for it to turn on/off.
Using a modifier set to fader/knob and mapped to your fader/knob
Interaction mode-relative
Rotary sensitivity-25%
Rotary acceleration-0%
Then map the Fx button to the same knob/fader (map as a button)
With the modifier=6 , interaction mode direct, and set value at 0
Then map the button again
with the modifier=7 and set to value at 1
Hey Gogo, I’m sure I don’t need modifier to achieve this in my mapping. I use only two button commands with different interaction mode settings and it’s affecting every time - no matter how fast fader is moving. I assume that’s mainly related to your modifier setup.
Maybe try setting the freeze button to hold and set it to the knob and check the invert box. That way it should kick in when the knob gets all the way up and turn off when you turn it down
This way it will be on all the time until the knob is back to 100%… I got no problem for sharing parameters but like I said in this case there isn’t exact way to map it in, it takes some time till settings are right.
Yes moving the knob or fader too fast will cause Traktor to miss the state change from 6-7(to turn on) and 7-6( to turn off)
I have seen the video before, good stuff!
Can you share the mapping commands for your super fader? I know my way around Traktor mapping ok, but cannot figure out how you have done it with out a modifier, Bomes, or a firmware change.
