The tape is placed across the hole in the vinyl. Some TC have holes that are a bit lose on the spindle of the deck. The tape is to make them fit more snuggly.
To be honest I have only had this problem with black TC.

Where are you based and would you consider selling the audio4 with it if I traded a reloop contour interface edition and a traktor pro 2 serial?
