Traktor beatjumping?

Traktor beatjumping?

Hey guys, is it possible to MIDI map a control to beatjump in Traktor Pro? As in have a particular button jump forward 8 beats? I know this was possible in Traktor 3 but can’t find the command anywhere in the MIDI mapping list!

Cheers,

not sure I understand the question. Do you want to trigger cue point 8?

what I need to be able to do is skip forward 8 beats in a track without having to use my mouse and go into the beatjump panel. but in traktor pro, there does not seem to be a midi command for this…

oh wow, never even knew that was possible, yeah I have no idea on that one. Checking traktor now for ideas though.

Im thinking seek position, as a button set to direct with the value being 8? or something along those lines.

To see it click the move button just below the play button on a deck.

Drop down needs to be set to beatjump

Mappings section is:

add in > cue/loops > cue/loop move size

+/or

add in > cue/loops > cue/loop move

yeah but that moves the cue or loop itself, it doesnt move the song itself

I just did it!

It moves the position of the play bar in the song whilst it’s playing. You can set it for 8 bars, 16 bars, 32 bars, etc

You need to dig further into the settings but those are the midi mappings you set.

Yes it’s called Beatjump in version 1.2.4 in the dropdown under Cue/loops and if u select button for type of controller u can then select the size u want in the button options dropdown to have a button set to always jump the amount u set.

yes i did it! thanks. but the problem is I needed to use three commands to get each button to work. guess i can deal with that:

  1. Set cue/loop mode to beatjump
  2. Set cue/loop size to 8 beats
  3. Cue/loop move

This means that no matter where on the advanced pannel menu I am it will always move the beats and not the loops instead.

This is a great tool for dance/electronic muic because it is so repeptitive so you don’t get glitches and pops when you skip over the beats.

Yup beatjumping like this is a tripple macro

Also the reason why you dont get glitches or pops when skipping beats is because Traktor has a hidden smoothing function that basically acts as a super quick crossfade so it doesnt click when beatjumping.

nice one

Do you want to move the song ahead so many beats or do you want to move the loop ahead and have it continue looping when you stop?

the most recent traktor has a beatjump function in it so you don’t need to triple macro

You can do all that. Or you can use the ‘beatjump’ command. It’s in the manual people!

really? i’m pretty sure i have just one function assigned to a button to jump back one beat, shift function of my copy a or b buttons - use for ‘double ups’

ignore mods - 1 is related to shift, and 5 is related to my juggle/mash mode

or did i misread the question?

yeah bradcee is right, you only need one function for beatjumping, either I didn’t see it when i first tried or they’ve introduced it in a new version somewhere along the line
