Traktor: Key detection of songs on an external drive?
I notice key detection works wonderfully on the tracks that are on my hard drive…but I keep most of my tracks on an external drive (DJ’ing from my computer room), and it doesn’t seem to want to detect the key on those particular songs. Am I doing something incorrectly??
Try browsing your songs through the Track Collection node.

Next question, and pardon my ignorance (and post stacking), but is there a way to see ONLY what’s on this external hard drive in the track collection? Or in a way that I can see how they’re separated out in folders? (I keep it organized by genre or BPM generally)
You can add “File” as one of the optional columns in the browser; sorting by File will keep all your external drive in one place.
