Traktor Pro 2 Sync Reset

^ Tempo Sync (at least for me) Starts the tracks off in phase sync with each other. I purposely would have sync on in TempoSync mode and start the second deck on the off beat and Traktor makes it so they start beatmatched (or grid matched at least). Now if you mess with the tempo of the track it won’t throw it back in Sync but still it starts it with it matched regardless of the timing you actually start the track.

Thankyou for posting this as i have had the same trouble. Why would NI change what was one of the fundamental things that made traktor king?

i remember the same complaints when ppl swapped from TDJ3 to TP1. you’ll get used to it and find it’s not as bad as it seems

another restart of my tp2 seemed to have reset it back to the old way, so now im a bit confused.

after reading http://traktorbible.com/en/t2_syncmodes.aspx i understand the differences between the two, but i do not understand why turning the sync off resets the tracks bpm. that is what i need to get back to. is it possible to even edit the S4 mapping to take care of this? or am i going to need an additional device like mentioned above (x1, apc40, etc)

Assuming you’re using temposync, why do you feel the need to turn the sync off if you want the tempo to be matched?

Because, like I mentioned, temposynced will still start the stracks synced up, it just wont keep them there if you alter the tracks pitch. This is all good I guess if you have great grids and whatever but I personally don’t like having them synced up like that to start but maybe thats just me.

I think I understand. This wasn’t clear to me because when you use vinyl control you can easily start a track out of phase. I assumed that the same applied to “just hitting play”.

It appears to me that the quantize makes a difference here. With quantize on it seems I can only start a track synced to the nearest beat (grid).

Turning quantize off (leaving tempo sync on) seems to allow what you want: A tempo synced track that starts as soon as you hit play, no matter how out of phase is it.

EDIT: Though, now I think about it, it’s automatic for me to start something on beat so potentially this does also occur with vinyl control. I’d have to check.

It’s simpler that, it is just so we don’t have to physically match the tempo using the slider(s), but still want to beatmatch ourselves…

 to split hairs or not…?

Haha suppose i am :stuck_out_tongue:, but a lot of the things people are talking about are getting really in depth about sync/tempo/phase/matching… I JUST WANT MY OLD SYNC BUTTON BACK!! lol

Man… this is driving me nuts!!!

Is this just how it is now? If i turn on sync it resets the bpm?!!! That sucks balls!

I can’t figure this out but it’s a major issue

yes/no.

beatsync will set the correct tempo and phase lock when starts playing, resets pitch if turned off…

tempo sync will set the tempo and it will stay set whether on/off

OK

deck A is 121 and deck B is 122

deck A is playing 121, deck B has 122 loading in but isnt playing.

press sync (in both TempoSync and BeatSync) and deck B changes to 121.

press sync again on deck B while deck isn’t playing and it reverts to 122

SOLUTION:

synced deck B, started playing track then turned sync off. Now deck B stays at 121 even if sync is on or off.

(I think this works anyway)

i just have a tepo sync button on hold, so it flashed on/off. tempo stays locked and then i phase it by ear and good timing

This is how it works. whats all the fuss about? Press sync(on)>Press play>Press sync(off)>Beat match til your hearts content.

I may have missed something withing this thread so i apologise if im just stating the obvious!! :open_mouth:

its a workaround to start the track with sync on then turn the sync button off and then resume with your cue points. but its a pointless extra steps thats shouldnt be needed when you just want to match the pitch only

FFS

don’t have to do any of that!!

just map tempo sync instead of beat sync to the sync button on controller, and switch it in prefs as well to be safe.

i have

tempo sync

button
trigger (know i put hold further up, but was looking at the wrong bit when posted earlier)
[assignment]

tap it, it flashes on/off, sets the pitch and it stays set regardless of what you do!!

I think i get the gist of that one. Are you able to post the mappings needed to reset all 4 decks and then i just add them into the mappings section?

Many thanks in advance

Hey Folks, I understood the whole thing and I also prefer to beatmatch by myself. There Is one thing I can´t figure out on my Z2…

When I hit sync twice, the deck will stay at a certain tempo, BUT how do I reset the tempo to the original BPM of the selected track?

I´m asking because I want to pitch a track down for a mix and afterwards accellerate the tempo manually. I could use the turntables pitch slider but I´m looking for a shortcut button or keyboard combination…

Can anybody help me out? Thank you guys…
