I’m new to Traktor and have noticed something weird that occurs when I click on an action button in the track window or effect window (play, cue, cup, delay, etc.). As soon as I click the button, the requested action is processed along with a keyboard note sound that is activated, like if I were playing on a piano.
I’ve replicated this behavior on both Traktor LE and Pro, using MAC and PC and using built-in audio and an Audio 2 DJ. So I really think its a setting in the software.
Set your midi input and output ports in the controller manager. A midi signal is being routed to your soundcard’s midi audio atm causing the piano sounds.
THAT WAS IT!!! Thanks guys. Now I wanna make sure I have this set up right.
In Preferences/Controller Manager under Generic Midi Device I have both In-Port and Out-Port set to my Vestax PCI-100. If I set the Out-Port setting to “All ports” or my soundcard, I hear the piano notes.
Hi guys. I got the exact same problem and I can resolve it by switching the ports froms “all” to the selected Midi devices (VCI-100 and LPD8 in my case).
But, I just modified the Ean’s mapping to “convert” the sampler button into a modifier which acts on the LPD8. So I needed to add a global midi device and configured it to send midi messages to “all ports”.
Everything’s fine and works great till I begin to adjust the LED behaviour, so I can clearly see which cue mode is running on my LPD8 pads. I successfully made the led work in/out (thanks to the Ean’s mapping which is a great tutorial !) but I, of course, got the midi piano sound back since I’m using the “all ports” configuration.
So, is there a way to eliminate this annoying sound and keep my global midi “all ports” device ?
Thank you very much.

You need to mute the window’s SW Synth.
To do this simply double click on the speaker in windows(down by the clock). Then Mute the SW Synth channel, if there is no SW Synth channel you need to click preferences then check the SW Synth, now you’ll see the channel on the mixer and be able to mute it.
Yeah, easy as hello. I had a little issue as I just got the audio 2 dj “installed” in usb, but windows needed a pci card installation to run the panel configuration. So I wasn’t able to disable the sw synth volume. But I it’s fine !
Thank you very much.
