I wanted to change my setup a little bit and I was thinking about running 4 effect channels and map 3 and 4 to a little akai LPD8 and keep 1 and 2 on the S4 with the original routings…
Problem is, when i change it to 4 effect channels the S4 messes up the routings and LEDS.
There’s a little mod by Rainer on Traktorbible ( http://www.traktorbible.com/freaks/mappingview.aspx?id=106 ) that’s supposed to fix exactly this problem but all i get out of it is… the S4 not working anymore and the layout reset, so i have to reset the S4 to default again…
I’m using Rainer’s mapping but didn’t have any problems. Did you load it going to add>traktor>kontrol S4>user? after that you may need to load the default S4 mapping again by following those steps but selecting default instead of user.
yeah i did and then did that… and it was working actually, you made me remember!
but then… i was twisting the knobs on the left effect side of the S4 and realized they weren’t working… so i clicked on the mode button to change from chained to extended and… Voila’, everything went back to complete default (S4 effects buttons messed up and routing 3 1 2 4 effect channels..)
I don’t know if that’s normal.. but it adds another controller on the list called fx reset default - Traktor.Kontrol S4 User (right after the other Traktor.Kontrol S4 User)…
But right after i loaded it your way now the warning led above Snap on the S4 blinks.. weird haha
It’s supposed to add the controller labeled ‘FX reset default’. That’s not a new controller, that’s the custom mapping you’re layering on top of the default.
Are you sure you’re adding the mapping to your current setup through Add-> Import and not just using the input button at the bottom of the menu (Which deletes everything except for the imported mapping)? I’d hate to sound patronizing, but sometimes the simple solutions are right. I used to make that mistake early on.
