Hello I recently was reading the Native Instruments forum and one of the good things mentioned about Traktor Scratch Pro is that you can DJ at the club and then DJ at a friends after-party without your set (or club equipment) so my question is what would you have to do to connect your computer to a set of speakers so you can DJ to your after-party crowd?
Just like ssl, or torq⌠I find it funny that this is a âfeatureâ of tsp, but probably what they really mean is that tsp doesnât require timecode control to still have full control over the deck functions. Which admittedly is pretty cool, you can use the clubâs techs and then go to a friendâs house and hook up a vci-100 or whatever.
Well, thatâs a pretty big distinction. Itâs one thing to have to drag my laptop, VCI-100 and other various controller, and set up on a desk, itâs another to have to drag my record players, mixer, laptop, and other various things (needles, cleaning solution, timecode records, etc, etc) to be able to spin.
Massive distinction in the case of Serato.
I can turn up anywhere with a laptop , audio2 , one audio cable , one usb cable , headphones and play. I can leave my controller at home if want cus Traktor can be controlled by the keyboard. My hotkey setup is pretty damn basic. It works a charm.
But can you connect a set of speakers to the audio 8 dj soundcard via RCA or something and you can always use the internal mode in Traktor Pro like (Karlos Santos) mentioned
what kind of cable would you need to do that? And what input/output would you use on the Audio 8 Soundcard to connect it to the amp or self-powered speaker??
usually speakers have either xlr or 1/4ââ ts cables. so just get rca â whatever the speaker input is. they make any kind of cable youâll ever need. usually amps are the same (xlr or 1/4ââ ts, sometimes rca). just hook it up to whatever output on the audio 8 is your Master Out in your prefs in traktor
I use an Audio Kontrol 1 SC which has 1/4" jack balanced outputs
I got:
1/4" Jack to 1/4" Jack cable
1/4" Jack to xlr
An RCA cable with 1/4" adapters (which i use to go into a club mixer)
And even an RCA to stero mini jack so I can plug into an ipod dock or whatever. Same cable i use to plug my ipod into the mixer for back up.
Doesnât take up much room and am covered for after party action. Which there always isâŚ
The way I got my shit set up Iâm prepared for any situation. Vinyl decks, CD decks, no decks at all, mixer, no mixer, sound card, no sound card, club sound system, home stereo. You name it I can play on it! Only problem is if there are no decks I cant scratch, but no major biggie if just rocking a house party or some shit.
Potentially all I need is my laptop and nanokontrol (and mini jack to phono lead) and away I go.
