I just wanted to share my amazement at the sheer volume of albums being released this year by imo some of the biggest movers and shakers in dance - it’s uncanny.
This is the list so far from artists i’m into:
Daedelus
Wagon Christ
Amon Tobin
Does It Offend You Yeah?
El-P
Strictly Kev
The Avalanches
SebastiAn
Justice
Prefuse 73
Bibio
Chemical Brothers
Siriusmo
i’m sure i’m forgetting at least a few, but still this list is HUGE. do you guys have any to add?
Looking forward to all those, although these stick out… I normally feed off singles and EPs more than albums from big artist so I don’t know of any that will be dropping in the next year…
+1 for The Avalanches hype… Since I Left You is somewhere near the top of my favorite albums of all time and I had no idea they had anything new coming out.
Also looking forward to the new albums from Nero and Above & Beyond, but a lot of the hype is lost when artists are playing out all the tracks months before release.
I hope justice does something different than their last album. But by the sounds of “Civilization” it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. I’ve waited 4 years and I feel it’s going to be just a continuation of the sounds they were already making in 2007.
hmmm i think Civilization sounds a bit different than anything from the Cross LP, but it does sound very Justice - if that makes any sense.
i think it’s a wise move on their part to retain some semblance of familiarity for their second album before flying off into a completely different direction.
i’m mostly thankful that we can atleast expect they’re not going to put out a corny brostep record or whatever to appease the current popular dance trends.
I do agree with keeping the familiarity of Justice. Maybe it’s just me but it sounds like they were holding onto Civilization from 2007. Time has moved on and a lot of people have borrowed their sound. I was just hoping this one would be just as ground breaking as their last one. But we will just have to wait and see.
