Good option but I don’t think you can get them new. On the other hand, they are dirt cheap even in mint condition.
On X600 he can route 3rd channel out of traktor (decks C, D or both combined) through usb fx send/return channels - you don’t get on-mixer EQ but you control volume with the dry/wet knob (you can map EQ to X1 even in external mixing mode)
wacomole: the fact that Xone 23C is not midi mappable has no bearing on the ability to use it with traktor, it just means you use external mixing mode, not sure if you understood that (you seemed overly disappointed for no reason )
Oh well that’s interesting. Let’s summarize: Basically, for transport, browsing, cue point triggering, syncing and beatmatching I need 2 MIDI controllers like the X1, PL1, and maybe a zomo MC 1000, mapped for traktor. But for the real fun part, like fx, filter, volume and eq I go with an analog mixer with send/return OR fx on board. But a mixer with a soundcard on it, right? I never used external mixing mode, so it’s hard to figure out the whole chain
How are those 2 X1’s or PL1 connected with the mixer and laptop? Do you need USB-hubs or external traktor soundcard?
Soundcard can be separate or in the mixer.
X1, Pl1…are connected to the laptop via usb if you have sufficient number of ports, hub is needed if you don’t.
I would go for a Denon DNX1600 or DNX1700 mixer, they are great mixers with onboard effects and a send/return and 4 channels. They are also Traktor Scratch certified so if you wanted to go down that route at a later date you could. Then just get an Kontrol X1 Mk2 (1 for 2 deck control and 2 for 4 deck control)
I’m really liking the look of it. I’m seriously considering going to that from my DJM-T1. I’ve been wanting to jump to Rekordbox full time, but haven’t yet made the jump to buying a full license.
I did find a nice price for a Xone Db2, and it got everything I need. I also did find a nice price for a DNX1600, but I thinks I prefer the specs of the Xone DB2.
One big question remains. Although I now have an analog mixer with on board fx, filter, soundcard and MIDI mappable, I still lack control for browsing, trigger samples & cuepoint, pitch changes, scrolling through a track.
And thing is, I can’t find a controller who does this! A couple of K2’s seems like a logic setup, but I don’t see how they could scroll through the track or change pitch? an X1 is also an option, but with half of the unit dedicated to fx, it seems Traktor is pushing me once again using ther fx Not really the idea.
A Zomo MC1000 looks pretty complete though? A Zomo MC1000 and 1MK2? Just thinking
I own a db 4 and still use some of the traktor effects, i use 2 d2’s next to it and a xone k2 mapped to various functions in traktor for hands on acces…
K2 ara sure a logic set up. You can map it at your own needs our probably find some ready to use mappings on this website in the mapping section. You can consider also K1s wich are the same as K2 but without integrated soundcard, then cheper.
X1 are also good options and if you really don’t want to use the traktor fx, you can still remap the fx section to other functions wich would be more close to your needs.
I did buy a Denon DN-X1600! It’s working beautifully with traktor on external mixing mode. Thanks for all the advice!
Now I’m thinking of just adding 2 A&H’s K2. But how does it work? Are these connected to the laptop? So I need 3USB ports (1 for mixer, 2 for 2 K2’s), and traktor will recognize both 3 controllers? and all audio is running via USB from laptop to the mixer, something like that?
For the K2, you will need only one uSB port because you can link the K2s with network RJ45 cable.
Traktor will recognize all controllers but you’ll probably need to install the COntrollers mappings in the controler manager set up screen
I don’t know the Denon, does she have n additionnal usb connections for plugs some controller? if yes, you’re saved.
If the denon is soundcard integrated, yes, I advise you to get straight usb connection to your computer.
The soundcard is integraded, the mixer does NOT have a usb slot for adding controllers…
So 2 K2’s are connected with a network cable, so I need 1 USB for those 2. I need another one for the mixer, that makes 2. I have 3 ports(all usb2.0) on my laptop, so all good?
