Usb Damage?
Hey DJTTF.
I was just plugging out my s4 when suddenly.. Pow! The little orange thing from the usb plug in the kontrol s4 just flew of and now i can’t find the orange thing again. My controller has been harsh to plug in from the start so is it the point to take this orange thing off? And if not and if i find it can i put it back in?
Its not a ‘standard’ USB(B) female. Its ‘harder’ due to a specifically designed safety mech to prevent accidental removal. I assume that the ‘orange thing’ houses that mech. If its still working, then all you’ve lost is that mech.
Seems there’s a couple of user who have experimented this. I wouldn’t use it with a broken USB connector. The little orange insert may also hold the contact well in place… you don’t want to mess with this… worst case you may even blow your computer USB port.
This is probably better advice than mine - take note!
All I know is, I’m very scared at how difficult it is to plug in and remove that usb cable, whereas I played out with my APC40 for almost a year. It had nowhere near the resistance to plug in and remove, yet not once had a problem with accidental removal.
All related to how the user sets up, I suppose, but definitely afraid this is going to snap off soon.
You might consider using a USB extension and leaving it plugged into the S4. That would eliminate any issues.
yes man I think I’m just gunna leave mine plugged in because its awful sketchy.
