Using Audio 8 and internal soundcard.

Using Audio 8 and internal soundcard.

i recently got a TSP setup but haven’t got my hands on my speakers yet. was wondering if there is a way to use the internal speakers of my macbook along with the Audio 8.
let me know if i haven’t given enough info for it to work.

Thanks.

Mac or PC ?

Re: Using Audio 8 and internal soundcard.

you cant do it. all the outputs go out through the audio 8, and I don’t know of a way on mac to use 2 soundcards simultanteously.

What I would do if I wanted to achieve that would basically depend if you are mixing internally or externally.

Mixing internally: Assign one output of the audio 8 as the master output, then connect a Rca to plug cable going from that output to the line in/mic input of the mac that is a plug. Then on the onboard sound settings you must find a way to listen to the input through the speakers (i know how to do it on pc but not sure in mac).

Mixing externally: The same as above but connect the rca to plug cable going from the rec or master output(carefull with the levels if using master) of your mixer to the line in/mic input of the mac.

It should work.

Edit… upss forgot that you can´t use them simultaniously on mac… My explanation would work if you install Asio4all and proper configure it… Sorry :stuck_out_tongue:

You can use 2 cards simultaniously on a mac by using some program that comes with it… forget what its called though lmfao

Its “Aggregate Device” or something like that

i did not know this bento! but i can’t find such a program :disappointed:

The trouble with that is TSP won’t recognise your card as TS compatible and you won’t be able to use the scratch functionality.

Headphones start to look nice don´t they

It’s done with the audio/midi settings app located in the utilities folder.

Doesn’t the Audio 8 have a headphone jack? I’d use that, nicer than laptop speakers.

I presume he wants to be able to use his audio 8’s headphone while the master output is coming out of his laptop speakers

To use Macbook pro speaker output for your Audio8DJ soundcard:

  • System Preferences,
  • Sound,
  • Output,
  • Select Internal Speakers.

If you really want to join sound outputs, so you also have your soundcard output next to the mbp speakers, than make a new, virtual soundcard.

Go to:

  • Applications,
  • Utilities,
  • Audio MIDI Setup,
  • Click on the Audio Devices tab,
  • Click on the Audio from the top/apple bar, followed by Open Aggregate Device Editor … Or…
  • press shift+cmd+a to enter the Open Aggregate Device Editor.

From there you will be able to use and join outputs.

More info here.

Thankayou.

Well thanks, you guys seem to know alot. but yeah i went out today bought some stuff i hoped would work, and it did.
got one a conversion of a 6.35mm jack to Rca cabels.
then Rca cables to a little 3.5 mm jack into some old ipod speakers.

but thankyou.
