using same collection with ableton, Traktor & logic

Hey Guys, i was wondering…Is it best practice to duplicate your music collection on your hardrive for the different programs you use with it?
Such as Ableton, it leaves an ableton file next to any track you’ve imported into the program which gets annoying if it’s from your main source.
I also use Trakor & logic so would you say it’s probs best just to duplicate your collection for each of them?
Thing is, it will require unwanted space on the hardrive.

I don’t duplicate my collection apart from backing it up. I don’t use the OS explorer to navigate my music collection though.
