Vci-100 key mapping help!

Hi,

I’m a mashup DJ and I create mashups live on the fly in my sets. Since changing over to digital I am trying to steer clear of the “he’s not djing he’s checking his email” look. So would like to stay away from the laptop throughout my set.

What I’m trying to do is to edit the key of a deck in traktor without having to touch the laptop.

so… I have been been trying for a while now to add a mapping setting so that I can control the key of a track with a knob on the vci-100.

I am trying to set it so that when I press “SHIFT” and turn the “FILTER” knob on the VCI-100 it will control the “KEY” knob in traktor the same way as it controls the “FILTER” knob… ie when its set to middle the key will be inactive and when it is turned it will be on and set to whatever value.

I tried messing about with the mapping but just cant work out what variables I would need to get it similar.

Can anyone shed some light on how I would add this to the current DJ TECH TOOLS mapping.

All help really appreciated.

I think the Filter knob is not a good choice as it was modified for that function in firmware 1.3.

Thanks Phil, I thought I searched all of the forum before posting.. but will give this a try right now and see how it works.

The filter knob WILL need more work under 1.3 because it sends different midi messages depending on which way its turned.

But the basics of mapping a knob to the key command are pretty trivial.

Check out modifiers in traktor and you’ll see its very straightforward to get this to work with a ‘shift’ key.
