vci-100 pitch control problem

vci-100 pitch control problem

my vci-100 has been having a problem with the pitch control in traktor le. the pitch and bpm skip instead of progressing in increments of 1. the pitch is adjusting like 1.2, 1.4, 1.7, 2.1, 2.4, 2.6 and the bpm is adjusting 124.4, 124.6, 124.8, 125, 125.3, 125.5 and so on no matter how slightly i move the pitch control. i changed the “analyze bpm range” and am wondering if thats my problem or if something else is going on. im not seeing a pitch range setting i could have adjusted and tried reinstalling traktor to no avail. please help.

The problem is that the VCI-100 transmits MIDI data between 0 and 127. This does not translate evenly into 8% or 4% (or any other setting). The only way around it, really, is to assign a button (or key on your keyboard) to do a fine pitch move so you move the pitch fader to close to where it needs to be and, if it doesn’t line up, then use the button to perfect the mix.

it used to adjust smoothly but for some reason its not now. what are some factory settings that would influence the pitch control/bpm behavior?

What percentage setting are your pitch faders at?

im unsure of where to change that setting. there seems to be very few adjustments that can be made in the preferences section. is there another location adjustments can be made?

Under Settings → Transport → Pitch

is there a way to reset back to factory settings or is it going to be trial and error to get it back?

Factory default should be 8%

im unable to find the settings. the manual says there should be a settings folder in traktor folder but there isnt. am i looking in the wrong place?

You’re using Traktor LE, not the Traktor Pro Demo, right?

its traktor 3 le. it came with the vci-100. i hope reinstalling traktor didnt mess with that settings folder.

no no, you should be fine, just don’t think they are in the same places in TPro as in T3.

under Deck Preferences → Transport there is the Pitch section.

Just play with the Fine Pitch Range until it works for you. Make sure it’s on 8%, cause that should get you the closest value.

the only thing i have in deck preferences is loading, transport, and sound & mixer. there isnt a pitch section in the transport section though, just cache.

Well, that’s really weird. It might not be editable in LE?

I’ve never used LE so maybe someone else can point you in the right direction.

i remember making a change after i registered the software but my onboard sound died so it took me a couple weeks to get another soundcard and i forgot i made the change so i reinstalled traktor and now cant find the settings folder insider the traktor folder which is why im thinking i cant find the pitch section. what youre telling me makes complete sense and i do believe youre correct. now i need to figure out how to recover the settings folder.

Hm… maybe contact NI support? If something got deleted or moved around they could probably help.

i appreciate your help dvlsadvct. ill shoot ni an email tonight and keep you up to date.

Not a problem at all, bukibu.
