So I’m getting my first controller soon and was debating these 2 setups. The Vci-100se is supported and all but I’m not sure if its out of date and feel like I can customize more if I start out with the dn-sc2000 and a midi mixer. I use traktor and am very good using it with my computer i just need something i can get my hands on. keep in mind i only have $400 to spend. I can get teh vci for $320 but then i have to get a soundcard and the cheapest is 100 bucks. On the other hand the dn-sc2000 is $250 and i’m not sure if I can get a beginner mixer for $150 with built in soundcard and midi. So ya, i’m stuck. I already have an mpd18 which I use for all my effects so that department is not a part of the discussion if that matters lol.
Well I also asked for advice on the SC2000 and I got all positive comments. One person even said he would take Denon SC2000 and a mixer over an S4 any day! I hope to purchase one in the near future.
i hadn’t seen those before - looks like a pretty cool controller. really depends if you want the all-in-one solution of a vci or vci-type controller or a more modular approach. i’m tempted by one of these sc-2000’s now…
edit: i picked up a djtech djm101 midi mixer for 20 quid recently and i’m impressed with it for the price - makes for a good traditional 2 channel dj mixer imho - tho people don’t seem to like it here as it doesn’t get mentioned often at all. i put a photo of mine here ICON iDJ First Impressions
yup added a snipe thingy on the ebay auction - totally forgot about it and turned out i’d won it. always find the use of the word “won” on ebay odd tho as usually when you win something you don’t then have to pay for it
i quite like it - crossfader is pretty smooth and loose - channel faders are ok but not great - pots have a nice feel to them - led feedback for levels works well and it’s bloody small overall…
tho why the f*ck they put the usb socket on the right hand side and not the back is beyond me…
