VCI-100 Trade In Value
What do you all think would be a good price for DJTT to pay for a second hand VCI? I emailed Zach about a price and he asked me what I thought was a good price…trying to get some feedback from you all.
What do you guys think would be a best case scenario price for a ..(good condtiion and in full working order)
VCI-100
VCI-100 Arcade
First tell us where you live?
I sold my VCI-100 (not SE) recently for 300€.
Sorry…FL, USA.
Just wondering because I was interested in the trade in program they were going to implement in hopes of knocking down the price of the S4. Not sure what one would ask for when it came to the VCI and VCI AE.
Not mentioning a price-range you may get is probably not a good idea. I wouldn’t send mine if I didn’t know at least an estimate of what to expect.
I’d be curious too, though my vci is weird: silver, 1.4 firmware, black knobs/faders, and a Pro X xfader. Might fetch a penny though, since conversion to djtt se would be cake.
Very nice indeed.
I’d just call or mail the show asking for an estimate.

$250-$300 depending on knobs and overlays on it. Maybe $450-$500 for an arcade, but that’s a touchy subject imo. If DJTT did the mod they can be a little more confident in the work, but if joe blow did it they have no idea of the quality of the work.
If it were me I would have people send the VCI in with no promise on how much they would pay for it. Only after a thorough inspection would I make an offer. you have to remember to that you’re not going to get the same amount of money you would if you sold it outright because DJTT still needs to make money to keep the site running.
A used silver VCI 100 would need the following to become a “SE (lite)”
$25 - Firmware upgrade kit
$30 - Overlay
$40 - Knob kit
$50 - labor
To go from there to an Arcade version (assuming that only the arcade overlay would be subbed for the SE overlay):
$20 - Buttons
$45 - Pre soldered wire kits (with diodes)
$100 - labor (increment over the VCI 100 SE mod)
Given that, I would expect to get:
VCI 100 (unmodded) $200-250
VCI 100 SE (overlay, firmware, knobs) $250-300
VCI 100 Arcade $400-450
That would allow DJTT to risk getting a few controllers that were “parts only”, and still sell a refurbed Arcade for about $600 and make $$$.
