Has anyone here had trouble with Airport security taking thier VCI as carry on baggage. I recently get my brand new VCI a few days before going to work. When im off to work I usually only take a back pack, but now I have a new Laptop/suitcase type bag that I carry my VCI, Laptop, soundcard etc etc. I was at first considering checking this baggage in, but instead winged it.
I went through security in Bali, Singapore, Dubai and Malta, and not once was i asked about my VCI, I mean it must look kinda strange to them, I even had a packet of arcade buttons in the bag.
Soon i will be flying home to Indonesia from the Bahamas via America, Thus my cause for concern. Has anyone had trouble in the USA before?? I know the security measures have been stepped up again since this recent attemted attack?
I just take my mixer out of my bag along with my laptop. That way there is no question of what was that “bomb looking thing” is lls. I actually got caught up once and missed my flight, but after taking it out before it’s been gravy.
i do this all the time when i fly to vegas from san diego and back for pre and after hotel parties. although it does take a while to pack everything again in my dj bag after passing the TSAs. i always have people staring at me and the dj equipment asking if i dj.
i am forced to pull out the vci, laptop and soundcard out of the bag.
All NZ flights out to the US have a +1 hour waiting time since last week.
Maybe we should withhold all the best butter, beef, flight of the conchords and all that other fattening stuff we export there till the govt comes to its senses
The one piece of gear that always seems to freak out security in the U.S. and in Europe is, of all things, an old Roland Space Echo. I have never had a question with any type of other gear or midi controller but the space echo always causes trouble… hilarity, and trouble…
Avoided the US, flying via Toronto Instead!!! no matter which way i worked those flights i couldnt get a layover in Japan… Japan eludes me again, I want to check out Tokyo.
