they said on the vdj forum that the skin hasn’t yet been designed, they were using the vdj 7 one just to show the new features they have been working on…
Can’t lie - VDJ 8 is big news for me. I am SERIOUSLY looking forward to it. It’s the only reason I haven’t bought TSP2 yet…
Check out the community over at VDJ. A LOT of those guys are professionals, earning a living with VDJ. It may not look like the greatest app out there, but the guys that are using it know that it is extremely powerful.
(That’s not to say I’M not hoping for a vastly improved GUI!!! slight_smile:
each to their own i suppose, i started out on 7 and just didnt get on with it, it just didnt feel right using it. and why bother making the fx detachable to use on another screen, would it not be a bit better to make the library detachable, but still, for anyone playing out this feature would hardly be used .. christ i carry enough theres not a hope in hell im lugging a second screen around
you don’t have to use the effects on a different screen, you can however expand the effects and lock them to an individual tab next to the browser from the pictures… imagine having 4 effects running with advanced options on each deck, but I think that would be a good feature to customize a different skin with lots of space to utilize… It will also probably be possible to send the effects to an ipad as the second screen (pure speculation), can’t deny that would be handy for some effect whores out there…
I should also point out it is already possible to use the browser on a seperate pannel or screen in VDJ7, just check out djdads “virtual touch” skins…
It’s ‘professional’ look is in the eye of the beholder. It looks different than it’s counterparts, but I don’t think by any means does it look unprofessional.
Also, much like it’s predecessor, I’m sure there will be many other skinning options available, which it’s competitors don’t have the option of.
i honestly dont think any of them look that great if im being honest, i like traktor over others because the workflow suits me, however one thing i would like is vertical waveforms, its all that would tempt me over to serato, but i like the versatility of traktor too much
I don’t understand people dismiss a performance program based upon it’s looks- you should care more about features and performance. So long as the information is well presented and legible it doesn’t really matter.
The DJ program I use looks like this and honestly I prefer it to traktor’s interface.
because i need to enjoy what i’m using. i totally hate the UI of VDJ and never really enjoyed using it. looks to cluttered imo. traktor is pretty crowded too but is organized nicely. serato (which i use) is just very streamlined overall and i like it a lot more.
As far as i’m aware it’s been possible to custom skin vdj for a long time, so looks should be even less of an issue.
I used to use and like vdj, moved towards traktor when i looked into midi mapping and effects, but for straight up playing (weddings for example) vdj always seems the best option. I guess because its UI is more like a media player, with things tucked away its just easier to use and less threatening when you don’t need to go wild. The same reason is why people say it looks unprofessional i guess…
On the other hand i know it’s powerful, but it’s not immediately apparent (like the old mapping system) when you need it to be, that was what put me off.
have you seen them all though… or are you basing your opinion from an old version or a cracked one that had a couple of the old skins included in the download?
I use these personally, they have everything you need and nothing that you don’t.
