but i don’t know much of an overlay or mapping but i guess this is when you program what you want certain keys on a mixer to do?
so like one day like next year when i get the xone 92 + laptop + traktor + xone 1d …i wud map the 1d to be my mouse so i can choose songs n stuff, and effects…etc ? or even the same can be done on the xone92 mixer
essentially yeah, at the moment i have sticky labels on the buttons with the functions scribbled on in pen. looks bad. also i have stuff all over the place, things i don’t really need, things i mapped but have never used etc… so starting it again from scratch. be about 4 hours of solid mapping tomorrow. the geek in me can’t wait!
So I notice there is a “Transform” Button… leads me to wonder… does it transform into that bot you have in the top left? Is it an autobot? or decepticon? Please, tell me of this mysterious transforming VCI
Back on topic, NIIIIIIICE work man, wish my vci was that nice.. I just have painters tape and masking tape for a ghetto 2.4 mapping lol.
Also are those jog wheel plates the originals? If not, know anywhere I can pick up some black ones? I’m not too sure about spray-painting mine lol.
lol, it’s as in the pioneer efx units transform. use it for zabiela style scratching
i had repainted it previously, then put sticky labels on the buttons and sharpied them.
to answer how i did it…
i had to find a template, scale it to actual size, label the buttons, cut it in half on the screen as it’s too big for a piece of a4 paper and print it. bit of double sided tape, a knife and some clear sticky vinyl later voila!
did ‘acquire’ a vci template that i can’t share (by request of the person i got it from).
however if you trawl through the modded controllers forum you can find a couple of templates, or use a top down picture of a vci from google, it’s to scale, just needs resizing. after resizing add your own labels
doesn’t matter about the picture going screwy as you’ll be cutting the button and knob holes* out anyway and just be left background and your own labels.
Nice work! Looks like you’ve used white paint (or Tipp-Ex/White-Out) on the buttons. It would look much nicer if you took the buttons out and painted the BACK side of buttons - the buttons are transparent after all…
(Also if you pain them on the back the paint won’t flake off over time).
i know, but i had done that with red in the past which didn’t show through too well, which i found after doing over half of them - switched to red on the tops, and cleaning them was a pain, so went with white over the top of the red, get some light from the leds show through on a couple where the red had flaked off when removing the labels that were on there. used paint from games workshop, which is pretty hard wearing stuff.
1.2 fw, got a bit creative with modifiers for some of it to work around 4th button issue. mainly in the old effects section on the middle led page, as the 4th button is same as the button at top left next to the 3 little pots - and that’s my shift button. also as it’s the only bit of that section that controls effects in that way it stops clashes between deck a/fx 1 and deck b/fx 2.
