Very Portable Midi Controller

Very Portable Midi Controller

Hey guys i need some help choosing a midi keyboard. I’m in college and i need something thats portible. I need something that has 8 encoders, pitch/mod wheels, 25 keys, light-weight and can fit in my bookbag with room for books.

how much you willing to spend?

don’t think you’ll find anything small with 8 encoders on. some small ones have a few pots tho. this kind of question gets asked all the time and there is a thread from yesterday too http://www.djtechtools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45659

the novation nocturn is the only small controller i know of that has 8 encoders - you could always buy one of those and then something like an lpk25 to add the musical keys.

Max of $150 bucks

Can I use this so I can use the oxygen 8 traktor pro mapping?

afaik the oxygen8 doesn’t have any encoders anyway - only pots. you should be able to edit the oxygen8 mapping to fit something like the akai mpkmini - or even easier change what CC’s etc are sent out from the mpkmini via the akai controller editor to match the oxy8. tho the mkpmini doesn’t have any pitchbend/mod wheels.

you can change what gets sent out from a nocturn via automap afaik - you’d need to import a 2nd copy of the oxy8 mapping and attach to the lpk25 if u went for that approach to get the functionality of the keys.

Novation Nocturn 25 - 8 encoders and a bunch of buttons, pitch/mod wheels, 25 keys, 8 drum pads and Automap. Can’t go wrong.

for some reason i never think of the novation keyboards. that sounds exactly what the OP was after

I have a novation keyboard. it’s awesome and the keys feel really really good compared to some of the other brands.

It has what I need plus drumpads. I was thinking of this or the original V1 Oxygen 8 controller. On is cheaper one has more crap.

I’ve got an LPD8 and a Faderfox DJ1 for sale at the moment - check my thread in the For Sale sub forum
