Vestax PMC-280

Vestax PMC-280

Hi,

I’m still on a quest for a perfect mixer for me and I have found one used with good price. It’s Vestax PMC-280 (http://www.vestax.com/v/products/detail.php?cate_id=17). Seems like perfect for what I need (affordable 4 channel mixer with good sound and built quality), but I read / watched some not so good reviews.

My main concern is this:

  • One guy mentioned something in youtube video that gains are not good, when line fader is all the way up, gain can’t put the volume down no matter if you dial it all the way left. That sounds like crap. Not sure if it was only his mixer that was in defect.

  • Sound and build quality and quality of faders and EQ knobs. One review said faders are too stiff, is that true ? Also background noise is it too bad and is there any sound ‘popping’ when using any of the controls ?

Basically I can get this mixer (used) at the price of new A&H Xone:22. I would prefer to get 4 channel mixer if there is no big problems with sound and build quality. Otherwise I might still go with xone:22.

Anyone have this mixer or have used it before? Any input is greatly appreciated.

vestax mixers are pretty good, they are held in high regard specifically by turntablists. I havent used that mixer personally but have used similar models and the eq’s are fine, perhaps a little more stiff than id like but nothing to put you off. vestax products in general are built to last. If you think you will want extra channels soon then its probably best to hold off from getting a 2 channel mixer or it could cost you more in the long run when it comes to upgrading.

Not my words, but it might help.

Ye, already read it and I expressed some of my concerns from there. Some other stuff like design flaws I can manage, but Im worried about background noise, bleeding and stuff.
