Vestax Spin Help!
i just bought a Vestax Spin and installed the DJay software and im having problems with tryna work out how to scratch? the LED lights under the jog wheels are red…shudnt they be blue?
No clue, I have never used it. Just curious, how do you like it? It’s what I was going to pick up originally to just mess around on. And would you recommend it to a friend?
The Spin has touch sensitive jog wheels, if you touch the metal plate on the top it engages scratch. Think of it as touching the top of a record while it’s playing. As for scratching properly in a way that doesn’t sound like crap? I haven’t a clue.
Its an awsum machine, very responsive and easy to use!
i realise its touch sensitive, however when i try scratch it just skips through the song, it dosnt scratch at all…
its like i need to enable something for it too scratch??..
Oh yeah… there’s a scratch mode button for each deck… should be right next to the headphone button.

No idea then… I’ve used a spin for about 10 minutes total and never used the DJay software, literally going off what I know from my VCI 100 and Traktor. Have you read the manual?
yea bro it mentions nothing ay…fuk i hope its not broken, coz im sure the jog wheels are supposed to light up blue, then red when being touched..
but they stay red..
Pretty sure they’re supposed to turn red when touched and blue when released… unless they wired the LED’s wrong or something? If they’re just constantly red then I’d guess there’s a problem.

i think i may have sussed the problem…does anybody know how to install the original map? because i installed oldfashions map for Traktor Pro, so that obviously wont work on DJay..
When you have the needle button (the one next to the headphone precues) engaged, thats seek track. for scratch you gotta have it with that button off. also theres two little knob things that are in the back of the spin that control the sensitivity of the touch pads per deck.
I dont scratch much with it, but it sounds mediocre at best when you do.
And I have a spin, and personally its an awesome little machine… great for starting out (ive had it for about 6 months) but you outgrow djay real quick. Oldfashoned map for traktor pro is awesome for it but it does have its limits. i would suggest hooking that up to it except the effects mode is kinda hard to navigate because sometimes it wont be in teh mode you think you are (LEDS- VU/automix ect… -arent mapped because it causes the spin to freeze).

it’s probably because the touch sensitivity knobs at the back of the unit are set to ultra sensitive so the track doesn’t move at all (hence why the platters are red) try adjusting the knobs until the platters turn blue.
got it sorted bro, im using traktor pro now. so much better than DJay. the scratching is alot more accurate and realistic.
im just wondering im having trouble trying to get just one deck through the headphones..when im playing both tracks are on through the headphones..
im using oldfashions tsi..
the mic fx knob controls the headphone mix. this bothered me for so long until i figured it out. all the way to the right is full mix (so whatever the volume/crossfaders are at will play through the headphones) and all the way to the left is single monitoring… aka whichever deck is selected to precue through the headphone buttons.
once i got the hang of how to do this its been fantastic to use compared to precuing in djay…
do you find that oldfashioneds tsi lags a bit when say trying to speed up or slow down a track using the pitch faders for example? its something ive recently noticed and has been pissing me off a bit.

yea ive notticed that too, especially the track speed control! how would u fix this?
idk dawg, ive just kinda worked around it.
but basically before my sets and whatnot i push all the knobs faders and what not to make sure theyre working right in teh software but i seem to notice they reset when you load a new track. makes it a bitch to beatmatch on the fly (by ear) if your pitch controls dont work. and i hate using the sync function, i feel like its cheating.
im just waiting to save up some cash and for NI to work the bugs and kinks outta the S4 so i can sell the spin and grab something that was straight up engineered outta the box for traktor. the spins a fun little toy, but basically thats all it is IMO.
do yourself a favor and grab an X1 tho, deffinately makes the spin a hell of a lot more fun to play with cause your not ocnstantly guessing what mode the device is in.

by the way does any1 know if its possible to create a sample library in Traktor Pro? so u can que in samples whenever…?
