Vestax VCI-100 and Traktor 3.4: removing touch detection of jog dial (tks or mapping)
I am using Traktor 3.4 with my Vestax VCI-100 since it seems to run more stable on my old laptop.
I would prefer the metal of the jog dial (the touch sensitivity) to do the following:
- when not in vinyl mode, I would like the whole wheel to be a pitch bend
- so, the touch dial must NOT perform a SEEK, it must behave just as if I was touching the outside clear edge of the jog dial
The reason is that my fingers often brush the metal when I’m mixing, so the track SEEKS far ahead instead of just pitch bending like I want it to.
I have tried to map the MIDI but I can’t figure it out.
Please can someone offer me some help? A TKS file, or instructions, or advice.
Thanks
jog seek + pitch bend → learn|press vinyl mode button|touch platter|move platter|-> uncheck learn box, but keep touching the platter choose rotary/endless w/e
then choose the sensivity you prefer.
that’s what comes to my mind, not shue if it works, give it a try, and report back!

so, you never want the track to stop when you touch the metal? My solution would be to just take it off.
I’m not clear about some details about what controls to delete and what to add.
Attempt 1:
- I deleted the “deck scratch on”
- I deleted the “deck scratch” control
- I added a NEW control for “pitch bend” (as you describe above)
RESULT: when I touch the jog wheel (on vinyl mode), pitch bend activates, but keeps accelerating - it doesn’t stop when I take my finger off.
Ateempt 2:
- if I LEAVE “deck scratch on” as it is originally
- and delete “deck scratch”
- and add the new new control for “pitch bend” as you describe above
then the track stops for a second as I touch the dial, AND THEN pitch bends and keeps accelerating (doesn’t stop when I take my finger off)
when you touch the platter you typically get three messages:
one, when you touch the platter
one, if you rotate it
one, if you leave the platter
if you leave vinyl mode (by pressing the “vinyl mode”-button, which sends a midi-note A)
- you are now in search mode -
you recieve a message (identical to midi note A) by touching the wheel ,
and a different one by rotating (midi-note B).
no message when you stop touching
you aim was to pitch bend in “search mode”, correct?
is so you have to delete the functions the messages are routet to and remap the midi-note B, hopefully.
was this the intended?
Aha - we were doing the opposite: I thought you meant I must set it up for when viynl mode is ON. I wanted it this way because SEEK can be useful, I just don’t want the vinyl-speeding-up by mistake when I’m trying to pitch bend.
I have solved this problem though by playing around:
- i deleted deck scratch on
- i deleted deck scratch
- I ADDED deck scratch/CD-DJ Touch Jogg (using the method you descibe)
This works even better: I scratch when the track is CUED, and when playing it works just like the pitch bend.
Thanks for your time and help!
glad I could help.
never tried the CDJ thingy, sounds interesting.
will give it a try, when back on my operating system (linux so far.. hehe)
