i want a monome now
or at least the launchpad emulator app that i read about and ignored…
Love it… Been playing around for about half an hour.
Made one and captured it with Quicktime and Soundflower.
soundflower looks pretty cool. i have much to learn on all things mac… going to order a mbp next week - can’t wait ![]()
Im sure there are smarter or better ways of doing it but Soundflower is easy.
Just start it up.
Goto System Preferences > Audio and set input to Soundflower 2ch
Start Quicktime and record screen and set the input to Soundflower.
It records the screen and the audio from your browser.
New MBP is a joy… your gonna love it. Im a Mac fanboy, simple as that![]()
cheers… i’ll definitely give that a go when my new toy gets here.
i’ve often thought about getting a mac, just could never quite justify it to myself. i’ve never ever been a fan of windows and was running linux most of the time until i got fed up with booting into windows each time i wanted to use traktor and a mac just seems to do everything i need.
a decent (bash?) shell for working, a cool gui, the ability to run traktor+live and every mac user on the planet seems to say how a mac “just works”
i’ll just keep my current laptop for linux and an occasional boot into windows… (not sure i fancy tainting the new macbook with a virtual windows session thingy
)
edit: sorry… very OT
Bloody hell, this is more addictive then crack !
I use loads of OS’s and don’t buy a mac with the belief that it just works as u will be dissapointed. I think so many mac users big it up so much to justify why they spent so much on it. They are generally better for developing on than windows. as the hardware set is very limited so you don’t get as many strange things happening as you do on a PC.
You should buy the mac for its design, reliability (no better statistically than PC’s in the same price bracket).
buy a mac if you want, buy do it for the right reasons. Look how many 2 week old macs are for sale on ebay cuz ppl bought them and hated them. good place to look for a bargain tho.
sorry for turning this into a mac vs pc thread, I use both I just believe in way public enemy don’t believe the hype
Absolutely love that! It’s the beautiful little touches. Love the way it ripples on the grid when you hit a note.
Apologies for switching this slightly but to this comment:
You should buy the mac for its design, reliability (no better statistically than PC’s in the same price bracket).
Couldn’t disagree with you more.
Granted, with macs there is the whole ‘lardy da’ aspect. There is the whole design and aesthetic appeal.
But reliability wise they relax a true part of your mind that is constantly worrying about fixing stuff. I’ve been PC user for years and have a Mac now.
It’s the little things that you don’t have to keep fixing all the time, when your sound card may decide to just stop working, USB drive not show up, Update mess up the machine, plug in a new product and it not quite work…so on and so on.
It’s these things you just do not think about with macs and in my book that ‘instantly’ allows me to rely on it more.
So much so that I spend next to no time fixing or worrying about maintenance.
For me, it’s that bit that does it more so.
I was the same way except i am an avid windows user…I just couldnt justify spending that much money on computer that is mostly aesthetic and mediocre specs…but i happened to find one about 6 months old for over 50% off retail price in perfect shape so i took the plunge. It truely is as reliable as it gets with little to no maintenance involved…I still love my PC but i cant knock my mac for the price i paid…Still dont know about paying $1500 for it though…
I’ve bought 5 Macs in my life and every single one has worked “out of the box” as the saying goes. No disappointment only 100% satisfaction. I have no reason to lie.
Sorry Tom but this is the typical silly statement that a PC user says about the typical Mac user.
Mac vs PC is the most boring subject humanity has ever discussed but equal to the crap purveyed by Mac users that PC’s are useless for DJing is the pathetic judgemental tutting of PC users when they claim that Mac users need to “justify” why they spent all that money.
The whole “You bought a Mac cus…[insert reason]” is ridiculous.
But what reason do they sell them for (if what you say is true)? Its not cus the they dont work. Its cus the person doesnt like the OS and cant get used to not having 2 buttons or some other aspect that just takes some getting used to cus they are used to PC. People dont sell Macs cus they are unreliable and full of bloatware and cheap hardware.
Unfortunately Mac users will never stop gloating that they have never needed to tweak their machine or its never crashed. And PC users will never stop looking down their noses telling Mac users that they over-spent on a shinny designer box.
And the circle goes around and around.
That’s awesome, wish it was stretched a bit longer
hey guys, there is an iphone/ipod app version of this tone matrix, it’s called Melodica. i’ve had it for a long time and it still remains one of my favourite apps.
