Hey, I’m looking for a little feedback. These are some of my first tracks I’ve done that could be described as “EDM.” I come from a noise, experimental and free improvisation background and I tried to bring the spirit of that to these. Let me know what you guys think. This isn’t the type of thing I generally do, so bear that in mind. The first one is a bastardized remix of Metallica’s For Whom the Bell Tolls with an obscene amount of airhorn for comedic effect. The second track is me playing around with different “dubstep” patches with Sisqo vocals.
Well to start I totally skipped the first one. A dance or whatever remix of metallica with air horn comedy didnt appeal to me. Also, are you really an LLC?
I listened to the dubstep style track and was under impressed. It’s clear there is no mastering or eq’ing, so I’ll ignore any of that. Just be sure you do it! If you intended to set the BPM at an off tempo then I understand. But almost all dubstep is at 140, not 120. The snare has no kick or presence. You should layer them with a clap and a white noise sound to really make it come through. I usually dont even use a snare sound; unless I just want a little low end punch. I know you said you were just playing around with different sounds so I’m sure you didn’t spend a ton of time on this. But the bassline was a little hard to listen too. Seemed to shrill and not fluid enough. I think if you spent more time on it, you could make something a lot better!
