What do you guys use for CD labeling

I was looking into Lightscribe disks but to me it’s a hassle to order them. What are some suggestions here for CD labeling. What should and shouldn’t be on there? What will make it stand out.

you mean for promo cds or for your cd collection?

promo cds

Promos I usually just bone up a couple hundred dollars for a small batch of professional printed, jacketed CD’s, it’s a small investment but well worth the professional quality. Really stands out.

For all other needs, like friends, colleagues, or whatever:

Fits perfectly, easy to read, and it looks really nice on TaYu CDs.

Re: What do you guys use for CD labeling

Get a stamp kit to label ur CDs or a thermal printer. I have a casio it’s pretty good. Buy some genric tayu CDs and find someone with a cd dupicator and start banging cd out. I bought a 8 bay cd dupicator for 250.00 and it’s a life saver. Plus I burn the mixes CDs for the local djs in my hood.

personally, I always avoid stick on labels. …they have a nasty habit of coming off in slot loading drives!

:sunglasses:

Sharpies are for signing boobs, not CDs!

How about making some sort of template to partially cover a cd and then spray over with spraypaint? Wow this sounds cool, gunna try that..

A friend of mine did that, it was epic.

But yeah, I’ve stamped CDs for years. The only ones that have come off were the ones I never really set right. Also, the software I used was never able to calibrate properly with my printer, so it wouldn’t always center, but there’s gotta be better stuff out there than what I used.

And what happens to certain paints when they heat up? …wouldn’t want one of your CD’s that’s for sure.

Sure CDs warm up, but certainly not that hot? I’ve never experienced a finger burn from hot cd’s lol..

I’m just saying paint may rub off or leave other undesirables in a cd deck.

+1 for cd burns, i spend a bit of time on covers etc so i do the occasional lightscribe disc, but sharpies are ze best.

Yeah, truth

cool ish can be made with sharpies man

Stumbling home from town drunk at 4AM holding a sharpie and spotting a beemer= priceless :stuck_out_tongue:

Guys I should do a review on making mixed CDs. I usually burn about 500 per month!

If your going to take the stencil route. Use CDs that you can printer on your home printer. Get a small spindle that holds 10 CDs and use it to hold the CDs while you spray paint it with the stencil.

If you guys need CDs check out www.newegg.com

They have very cheap prices for quality CDs.

I get white inkjet printable CD’s at supermediastore.com and use a HP Photosmart C5200 printer and print on to the disk..

Nero does a good job as a program, i do my artwork in photo shop and then bring it into nero.. looks a hell of alot more professional than a sharpie especially when handing a cd to potential clients.

I buy my cd’s by the 200-300 qty much cheaper than
going to your local staples supermediastore usually has great sales and that’s when i pick them up.

like right now 200pack ritek… for 34.99 with free shipping…
That breaks down to 17 Cents a disk. there have been times i have gotten cds as cheap as $.06 a disk on some sales.

http://www.supermediastore.com/product/u/ritek-52x-cdr-blank-media-white-inkjet-hub-printable-200pk?max=15&offset=0&filter=Printable%3DHub+Printable|Quantity%3D200+Pack|

if 200 is to many for just you then you get a couple local buds in your area to chip in and get them cheaply.

I had my Linkin Park cd get a laser burn on it from a 12 hour road trip. Needless to say I should I had to stop at a store to purchase a new one. I also learned, that I should make a copy on my purchased cd’s.
