What do you use to convert youtube to MP3 files?

Why do you need that, 128k sounds crap?
Found a song, but couldn’t find the downloadable mp3 anywhere.
Google is your friend.
For some songs that does seem to be about the only option. I’ve found FLVTO to be about the best online ripper.
Yeah, the difficult part is making sure that the quality is atleast ABOVE 120 kbps.
Real Player…real player basic is free to download. Once its installed in your comp, when you scroll over a video on youtube, a little box pops up for you to download the video, once its downloaded you can then use the real player converter to convert to mp3. Very fast and very easy.

just to add to that.. you get between 64kbps and 128kbps audio in SD vids. in HD vids (that is, 720p and up), you get between 128kbps and 192kbps audio.
however, bitrate is far from the only concern with audio from YT. actual quality can be poor for other reasons as well.
first off, almost all content went through multiple transcodes as people rarely upload lossless audio. OP’s plan to put yet another transcode on top of that by re-encoding his YT rips to MP3 is, of course, LOL quality-wise.
second, i frequently hear audio that’s been heavily clipped or otherwise degraded. i see this particularly often when people upload audio that originally came off vinyl.
If you cant find the song in a better format then accept that you don’t have that song. Playing Youtube rips out is criminal and will ruin your reputation far more than not owning a particular tune.
If you can’t find a tune anywhere but YouTube, I’d guess the punters aren’t screaming to hear it.
