What music are you into outside of DJ/electro/house/dubstep/hip hop etc etc?

Some post hardcore bands (or whatever… I suck at classifying by genre) that I really like: Coheed & Cambria, Alexisonfire, Thrice, Emarosa, Dance Gavin Dance, Broadway, Chiodos, The Dear Hunter, Funeral For a Friend, The Receiving End of Sirens, Circa Survive, Emery, Johny Craig

Other bands that I like are City & Colour, Dispatch, State Radio, Sublime, Kaddisfly, O.S.I., Transatlantic, Spock’s Beard, Porcupine Tree… shit… too many to think of.

Guitarists such as Steve Vai and Jose Satriani are also awesome…

I must say that I’ve been listening to 99% EDM since half a year or so… kinda hard to go back to the darker mood of post hardcore after listening to so much uplifting music.

Ditto. WAY, way, WAY too many sub-genres and evolutionary genres by now. ALmost impossible to pigeonhole what you like.

Probably a reflex to people trying to be ‘cool’ and trying not to be pigeon holed, so therefore creating new sub-genres and by now it’s got a bit ridiculous.

To me, there should only be ever 2 genres. Good music and shit music!

mostly psychobilly, rockabilly, blues, punk and classic rock. i listen to everything else well. very eclectic. I grew up listening to classic rock, my dad has disgustingly large record collection from college, and I was given a guitar at an early age and started playing those records. I think that’s why EDM really appeals to me, guitar has taught me how to appreciate music in general, so if it makes me move, i like it. and most music makes me move. shit, i like country too, new and old

I listen to the Spice Girls.

Sure :stuck_out_tongue:

I like anything with Mike Patton in:Mr Bungle, Tomahawk, Fantomas, etc etc. To me, that guy is a genius… not meant for everyone though.

happy hardcore… dunno if that counts. but i like screamo: dance gavin dance, gwen stacy. also like That Handsome Devil, cake, she wants revenge, william control. pretty much anything that sounds good

The finest UK Blues rock player from the 60s…Criminally Underrated

Pfft, EDM is my normal music

haha you said it man.

peter green > eric clapton

Perhaps. In terms of blues guitarists, I personnaly lean more towards people like Robert Johnson, T-Model Ford, Johnny Lee Hooker, R. L. Burnside etc.

international, made a couple of mixes with them:

i’m with you on that…
but we were talking about british blues guitarists.

either way, peter green belongs in the same breath as all those greats. his music has mad soul, some people can play the blues but he had the blues and could show it.

Kanye West, Flyleaf, Kid Cudi, Black Keys, Broken bells, the xx, Muse, linkin Park, Big Sean

Looking at my iTunes library: (Post) Grunge, Roots Rock, Country (American, not the regional stuff), Thrash Metal, Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Blues, Jazz, Stoner Rock, Indie Rock, Hardcore Punk, also Gospel (I am not Christian, but I still like the music) and Soul.

I think you would like my iTunes library as well. Well except I don’t really have much metal.
