What would you do
So I went into my local shop to buy another controller. A novation zero mk1. So they didn’t have any bags big enough so put the box inside a bin liner. So I get home meanwhile not checking the contents of the bag. Open the bag to see has given me a novation sl25 mk2.
So what would you do in this situation? Phone the shop and return it or keep quiet

depends … on your receipt were you charged for the mk1 or mk2 ???
Personally I would return it, but I’m a Boy Scout and have returned found iPods and large bills that I’ve seen people drop.
I was charged for the mk1 so a good bit cheaper.
I do feel rather guilty for keeping it though.

I know Chris. But I’ve had such crap luck this year already with lots of various things I thought this was like a little token from life to say sorry.
i know returning it is technically the right thing to do, but if i was in your position i would keep it. i bought a used 66 key m-audio controller from amazon in september…what shows up in the mail? an 88 key. needless to say i kept it

Well as I see it. The guy in the shop picked up from their storage department, carried it all the way back to the shop front then got 2 bin liner bags and put it inside and even at that didn’t notice it was the wrong product. Silly boy he is.
Argh… I would be genuinely torn by this.
Think i’d keep it and hate myself a bit.

Here’s how you figure this one out:
Are the guys at the shop dicks? Keep it.
Are they bros-4-lyfe? Return it.
Are they faceless nobodies and you’d likely have trouble remembering the name of the guy who sold it to you in the first place? Keep it, but don’t spank the monkey for a week as penance.
Right down the middle with this one. Some of the guys in the shop are decent but the rest are dicks and couldn’t give a shit. Oh and I don’t know the name of the guy who sold it to me. He didn’t seem that interested in my sale to be honest.
I may go back and buy new gear but it wont be for at least another 6 months or so as I’ve waxed all my budget for the year already.
if you return it, theyre going to quietly laugh inside for you returning it. they usually toss in a snide, “i woulda kept it if i were you.”

buy some other gear someday from the monetary difference between these controllers so they still have their money in the end. I bet that takes the bad karma right out of it.
