What’s the best way to ship things?

So I am looking into putting a few items up for sale here in the near future everything from midi controllers to turntables and I was wondering what the best method of shipping is for these heavy (and not so heavy) objects. How do you find out how much shipping will cost? How do you recommend they be packaged? (all of my gear comes with the original boxes) Thanks in advanced for your reply!

Personally I like UPS or FedEx, USPS has stolen items that were to be delivered to me and there is no accountability whatsoever at least with the others there is a number you can call and speak with someone.The original box & a shipping box is a good way to package stuff for shipping.
