What’s the BPM of Robyn - Hang With Me (Avicii’s Exclusive Club Mix)?
Hi,
Traktor doesn’t want to give me the right BPM of this song. It’s different everytime. A google doesn’t give me anything. Is there any way I can analyze a part of the song?
I tried with the pretty much standard 128, but it wasn’t right. An analyze gives me anything between 84 and 124. Different everytime. Why?
Just adjust the grid so it’s correct over 4-8 beats, skip forward a bit in the song, and adjust as necessary so the markers are on the beat. With this method you’ll also be able to see if the bpm varies.
Back in the old days, just counted the beats for 10 seconds with a stopwatch and then multiply by six. Obviously if you can have one minute of your time will be more accurate. If your very anal on that set the metronome on traktor and the internal clock to 127, 126, etc. And then you can find the exact bpm pushing down or up the tempo.
+1. Make sure the beat marker is dropped in the right place, play the track for 8 beats then set the grid to that position, checking further in the song to fine tune. You can also set Traktor to only analyse between a few values, say 122-130bpm (in the file management section of preferences). I often have this problem with Drum&Bass, Traktor seems intent on gridding many 175bpm songs at about 131
Alright, so beatgridding. What is the point of it? Sorry if it’s a stupid question, but as long as the BPMs of the songs are the same they are easy to beatmatch. What is the benefit of beatgridding every song?
Without a beatgrid you cannot use any of Traktor’s sync functions or use quantised beat jumping (skipping forward or backward in a track while staying in time with the beat).
I suggest you first RTFM before asking any more questions on this topic.
well I don’t mean to be rude, but since beatgridding is one of the absolute key features of Traktor and in fact most other digital DJ software (except Serato) it’s quite surprising that anyone would get so far as having a full copy of Traktor Pro without at least understanding the concept.
Well you gotta begin somewhere! I’ve just used it like a CDJ setup so far, but since I’m going all digital with the S4 soon I went ahead and read the manual and watched some tutorials and beatgridded 50 tracks. It takes some time, but I am sure I will spend more beatmatching manually if I don’t do it.
There doesn’t seem to be a way to beatgrid without a cue point. I am not sure I understand why, since the 8 hotcues could be used for better things, but I at least put the grid on hotcue 8 so it’s not in the way much.
Another thing: are these grids saved somewhere that can be exported to other computers? I don’t wanna do it all over again when I get my Kontrol S4. It takes so much time…
And again, thank you guys! I’ve learned to calculate BPM manually, found out about Traktor’s tap button and now beatgridding. I won’t have any more problems with unknown BPMs!
