A good DIY alternative is an Arduinome. Making an 8x8 ends up only costing like $150 instead of Monome’s $500. Plus you can customize the LED color, RBG FTW!

wow $500 for a standard 64 grey scale. Launchpad is so much cheaper! hehe
monome is way older than launchpad or apc40, back then it was that or build something yourself
