I never let anyone carry my laptop bag. My fiance wont even pick it up cus she knows i wont allow it.

Yes this is big fear. I have my gear insured in the house and i have specialist DJ insurance that covers EVERYTHING but, i once had all my studio gear nicked, over £5,000 so i know what its like to lose everything and the horror of the feeling that someone has been in your room and just taken stuff.

My biggest fear at some gigs is people being close enuff to spill beer on my laptop. I freak when beer glasses/bottles come near my laptop cus i have had one ruined by beer before.

Although my biggest fear as a DJ is not getting back from the toilet after a piss before the track ends !!!

Haha,I hate when that happens…It’s happened to Me Twice,But I caught it at the last 2sec’s and just echoed it out clean enough to make it sound like a transition

Biggest DJ fear? I don’t really have a fear no more. But even holding the second best residency in the town (the best one being my DJ partner as he is head DJ) i still get quite nervous when i know other DJ’s are around.. Especially the likes of Andy Duguid who is an established DJ that frequents our club and all the other DJ’s who frequent the club are very, very close friends with Chris Lake so i feel a pressure as i know they are talented and i am somewhat still ‘up and coming’.

Could you imagine: You are cueing a song to find the part that you want to start fading in or whatever and then you notice the volume fader wasn’t all the way down and everybody heard.

Never happend to me (nor is it likely to happen) but if it did I would die of sheer embarrassment and failure.

Read this post back to my self like 5 times…then I understood what you mean, hahaha…That would be an epic failure

diarrhea during a gig

Never say never.. I’m very, very careful about this mistake and it has happened.

Biggest fear has happened to me. Luckilly the place hadnt gotten busy yet so a quick re/route of software/hardware and i was back on track

Using SSL and one of the CDJs completely failed (luckilly it wasnt the playing deck), roll’d the track out into silence, brought in a premade mix from my ipod, booted up traktor and used my x1 with that for the night.

If that happens in SSL, you can just stick the broken deck into internal mode, enable instant doubles, and just use the instant doubles to transfer your currently playing track into the internal deck then cue up your next track on the working deck as usual.

Mixing with one deck is completely possible

Theft in my apartment- I have a lot of fancy toys.

Anything happening to my vinyl. I paid most of my wages in to that collection during the 90’s. If something happened to them … crying is a distinct possibility.

^ that

vinyl is irreplaceable as far as I’m concerned

I always click cruise just in case. A shitty transition is better than no song.

I did that last week. :open_mouth:

Biggest fear for me is Traktor Crashing.

Not my biggest fear (they have already been said), but :

I use my crossfader in cut mode, and sometimes (depending on laptop position at the venue) i have to bend over my mixer.
And sometimes the headphone cable tends to mess with it. It’s embarassing when the track it suddenly cuts
It never happenned to me “live” yet tho.

EDIT :
Just had some more ideas that haven’t been said :

  • Press cue on the wrong track (horrible, never happend live yet)
  • Forget to turn off the FX i used in a build up (like the delay T3) when the track drops (sounds horrible, really)
  • Forget to turn on the bass i cut to introduce the track (can happen when you bring a track during a break) A bassless drop is not really nice.

laptop lol

losing all my music through theft or hd fail (theft more likely). I’ve put a ridiculous amount of hours into my music collection and to lose it all would be heart breaking.

so i have a backup of all my music at work, and at home. so if someone steal my laptop AND my backup hd - i still have the backup hd at work  i also have a html file that sits on the intarweb (gmails servers specifically) with all my tracks on it so if everything got lost by some crazy event, i’d still be able to know which tracks i needed to redownload.

What’s Your Dj Fear?

Well I have to be very careful because I have super knobs mapped on my dn x1600. At the first “real” show I played, I forgot I had the echo freeze engaged during the mix. As I was blending I was so nervous I didn’t notice and the song I had playing just ended…and then silence. I realized what happened and corrected, the new track came in abruptly. Everyone was clapping and going nuts though when the last song ended though because the first half of my set was pretty good (luckily). I always check and double check the echo freeze and super knob that I have mapped, now, though. My biggest fear is a needle breaking, right now, because I don’t have a spare set. I need to order some replacement styli once I get paid for my last gig.

My biggest fear is really dropouts and distortion due to traktor. I just got my MacBook and was having some issues but they weren’t present I. Thursday, thankfully.

snakes.
