Where do you set the main knob?
I usually set it at 12oclock and turn up the max possible volume on my pa speakers ,
wondering if there is another way to do things here, my question is where do you guys set your main knob?
That’s personal question. 
If you are using an active PA system, follow these steps:
Set your software gain to somewhere between -5db and -10db.
Set your master output to max.
Turn up the speakers just until they either clip or you hear distortion… then back them off just a bit.
Then… ONLY use the master output to control volume. That way, you cannot damage anything.
Software @ 12 o’ clock. PA’s @ 3/4 o’ clock (Power to speakers LAST). Hardware all the way over to the left for power-up. Crank it up for sound-check.

I usually set mine about 2-3 o’clock on my s4 and about 1 o’clock on the club mixer. My internal gain or whatever is at -6.9dB
