which software to produce music?

which software to produce music?

hey guys

I have restarted my producing after a long break and just wanted to know.. with what do you produce?

I used to play around with logic… but now i bought maschine… do u think i should get rid of logic? maschine seems to do almost everything else except that everyone else still works with logic… whats ur opinion?

thnx

moe

use logic and maschine

Second that im buying maschine in the new year but there is now way i wont be using logic alongside it. its taken me 2 years to get my head round using logic and im not throwing that away i will just combine them both.

Ableton mainly because i brainstorm in the arrangement view, that’s how my workflow goes.

Logic and Maschine powers combined are a lovely combo, IMO you don’t need anything else.

I use:

Logic with Ableton and/or Reason rewired with Maschine, Massive, FM8 and various other VST/AU’s.

well vst is goin to be supported in maschine soon… would u abandon logic if u r working with maschine? whats ur opinion on maschine? what r the ups and downs? cuz personally i cant see whats bad at maschine… it seems tgo me that it might soon beat logic in its own ways even though logic has been on the market for long but native instruments seems to have a good hype on it… ???

Answer - NO

Logic’s audio engine is really good.

My workflow usually is when I have quick ideas I wnna bang out I open ableton.

Then when I wanna dig in deeper I open logic and set up ableton as a Rewire on a channel.

The Maschine right now is a new addition, so it has limited use thus far for me, but I am using it everytime I work and finding more and more features I like about it.

Right now I just like the fact I can really issolate the parts of samples I like.

When Maschine supports VST/AU what that will probably mean for me is I will hash out ideas with the device then work my way to a final logic project.

I use Reason, only because it’s what I cut my teeth on. I know my way around it well enough. Subtractor is great for basslines, and THOR is great for just about anything you could imagine. I LOVE Reason 5’s Kong drum designer.

I will say that I don’t care much for mixing within Reason. I usually bounce tracks out of Reason, into REAPER for mixing down and mastering.

I still love using reason myself from time to time, like yourself i cut my teeth using reason, but im now using logic 9. I dont like to limit myself to any 1 daw, i also use pro tools, and im just learning to use fl as well.

ableton? never really used it…

but can u produce with it?
whats it good for?
i mean i heard of it but never relaly tested it or sumthin…

but i think ur right… not to limit things… i will probably work with maschine and keep logic and if i would really fully rely on maschine then i would maybe abandon it… or?

Sometimes I’ll use FL studio if I want to use a certain plugin (like Plogue chipsounds or something), only because it runs a little more stable than REAPER (which is like a k-mart version of pro-tools). And again, I’ll just bounce it out and drop it on the timeline in REAPER.

Logic and Machine are a good combo to work with as well. I personally Use all three. When I get close to finishing a track I bounce it to Logic.

I use ableton, i find you can mess about and get idea’s going a bit better than you can with fruity loops or reason.

well, let’s not forget it’s a sequencer as well as all the DAWs out there, just switch to arrangement view and you have your friendly timeline.
IMO, the workflow feels a lot more natural than other programs and I love it’s clean design so you don’t get distracted by cosmetic things.
The integrated components and libraries are cool and if you feel you need more you can always add some VST or AU and drop some external stuff.

big help
thnx so much for all =)
