Who thinks NI will drop Maschine 2.0 or Kontrol F1 info before MusikMesse
Nothing really new on there part since they don’t participate in the trade shows, they usually have some goodies lined up around the same time to pull the rug out from under other companies product announcements. What do you guys think?
I think the F1 will be on the messe cuz couple of months passed after day have send the video of it I believe that they will be doing it messe and ı will be going there
Doubtful on the KF1… Maybe some more info released… another vid or something (which has already been teased by NI)
Maschine 2.0… Definitely not likely… I think a lot of people think of Native Instruments as this REALLY HUGE COMPANY… i don’t believe they are, don’t think they could pull both off at the same time. Maybe release a tease of what they have in the works, but not 2 BIG hardware/software releases at the same time…
for real the only thing i would want from maschine at this point is some ableton style time stretching and the ability to browse presets for VSTs that arent NI, and even that isnt really a priority.
A Maschine update that does timestretching is kind of necessary.
I have a few specific updates/changes that I’d like to see, but I’m not counting on any of them. One, NI has repeatedly said wouldn’t happen. Another is something that I’m sure NI has discounted as being a bad idea.
I think we’re going to have to wait and see what the MPC Studio software is like before we expect a Maschine update…I’m not sure they know what they’re competing with. And Akai could have done a few specific things that would easily kill Maschine. Depending on what you want to use it for, the MPC-R already does…it just costs twice as much.
Also, if they jump from 1.7 to 2, it’ll be with new hardware, and it’ll be made to compete with MPC-R…which means it’d cost more and have some audio IO.
I do think a 2.0 would be new hardware but at the same time I don’t think it makes sense for them to make the Maschine hardware bigger. As it is, the hardware does a great job of giving you control over numerous functions in a small footprint. And I think it would defeat the core value of Maschine, it’s portability. No one is taking a MPC-R out of their bag at the airport when they have time to kill. The only reason I could see for bigger hardware is if Maschine had some major features added that would tie with the new control. However that’s dwarfing the Mikro and Maschine.
Do people really take out a full-size Maschine in airports? I’ve done that in bars in the middle of the day ('cuz I’m essentially an unemployed alcoholic) but I always feel really weird doing it.
And, yeah…the Maschine and the MPC Studio are competitors. For a big studio piece, the MPC Renaissance just kind of kills it…if the software is on par. The screenshots show a few advantages that NI would never implement based on the rest of their software (like usable level meters).
NI might just not want to compete in that market segment. But, the reason I think they might bring out something bigger is to compete with the MPC Renaissance, which would be used in studios (whether bedroom or more serious)…which is why I’d have to have more controls and audio to actually compete. Considering that there are people who buy the Maschine Mikro, I’m not sure if they have enough of a following to do it…since they’d have an uphill battle just because the other one says “MPC” on it.
oh i just thought of something that would be awesome that i know wont happen - make the controller act as a dongle. i understand they need to protect thier property but theyre really a pain in the ass when it comes to licensing. got fucked over on a traktor license when i bought a used audio 4/duo bundle, and i have a feeling theyre going to be a pain about installing maschine on multiple laptops.
it would also be cool if they had some midi effects like ableton. like if you assign a vst to a pad, it would be nice to have something change what the note is that the vst is receiving. i dont want to have to go into keyboard mode. also wish there was an arpeggiator, so much fun shit you can do with an arp going into a sampler…
Agreed, on all points. Dongles make so much more sense than BS like NI Service Center. And I’d kill for those MIDI effects. I like the keyboard mode okay, but I wish you could just route MIDI Out devices internally…and have them able to output Chords instead of just notes.
