At first I was like hey cool new idea but then I noticed this thread was almost half year old. What’s the status indeed as it would be really great solution. I have the exact problem ahead, drilling the holes without any good tools.
So any progress on this or has this idea already been buried to the ground? I definitely hope not.
We are making arcade button overlays that cover the squares- I had not planned on selling them but perhaps if there is some interest we could put them up for sale.
the real problem is getting those holes cut for a decent price. We need to do at least 5 at a time to make it worth while and then its still $40 each.
Just out of curiosity, would these overlays be without any holes for the buttons? Or will they be precut with the round holes in them?
My suggestion would be to have the user cut out their own holes because not all of us may have used the same template, and/or button. Is this what DJTT had in mind?
Man, so many Aussies here - Cool! I’m from Sydney You guys?
I’d Prefer that the overlays are supplied with holes already cut for 24mm buttons, and a cutting template for the chassis so it is a perfect fit. I don’t fancy cutting the overlay with standard tools .
I’m based in Melbourne but travel often. I’m currently in Europe till next month. Actually I’ll be on your side of the country operating a theatre show in Perth around late March.
This thread is slowly losing it’s focus and if you are as eager as me to mod your VCI-100 with arcade buttons you won’t mind that we bring up this topic again.
Midifidler said that we need 10 people to reduce the cutting cost.
There are allready 40 people who are all interested in doing this mod so I wonder what the next step is?
I know a lot of people have expressed interest in this but Ean will have overlays in stock with cutouts for the arcade buttons soon so it makes this redundant.
